If you look at Rick Alexander's post, HERE, you'll see photos of a Guyatone 6-string. This exact steel showed up on eBay with the velcro and the four little holes on the bottom. This is the exact model that was stolen from me while on tour in San Francisco. It sounded great. I'm pretty excited to get another one.

I was looking at it and almost bid. I like those 2 pick-up laps. What did it go for?

Per chance is that the very SAME GUITAR you lost?

Or, just a 'look alike'?

No, the guitar that I lost had a Sustainiac unit installed. This is the exact steel that was owned by Rick Alexander. That's why I pointed out the holes and the velcro in that earlier thread.

I got it for $281.

I had one of those Guyatone "Fender clone" lap steels about 10 years ago and it sounded good. I played it on a couple of gigs and it really cut through. Lots out output from the pickups. The tone was a bit harsh compared to my other lap steels, but a good vintage sound.

I've owned two of them, previously. One was this exact model and the other is a green model that is similar, but with rocker switches. All of the hardware is different (cheaper) and the body is a little thinner. The difference between the two models is night and day. This version that I just won sounded fantastic, to my ears. Plenty of tone variation and no sign of harsh. The pickups were pretty microphonic which is probably why it sounded so good.

EDIT: HERE is a photo of the green one.

Here's the photo from eBay. Definitely Rick's Guyatone.
