Apologies if this has already been posted, but I thought it was extraordinary enough to share:

He takes the solo in the middle as well as towards the end. Not for traditionalists!!

Ah, great find, Chris. I'd love to have that complete show. Jackson Browne is in top form, and it all brings me back to being a senior in high school...
It was curious seeing Lindley play what looked like a New Yorker(?). Just a few videos down below the list on the right was "Runnin' On Empty" from the same show, which I played, and Lindley does pull out the Rickenbacher for that. _________________ Al

That show was my introduction to the lap steel guitar, I was blown away by this long haired "garden gnome" sitting there producing all these wonderful fills and solos from the "funny little guitar" that I'd never seen before.
Thanks for posting it! _________________ "Play to express, not to impress"

The guitar in the video is almost certainly this National Dynamic, shown perched on top of a Dumble Overdrive Special amplifier head.
Thanks for sharing - good stuff! _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Thanks for posting that video, Chris...that's great. Lindley is amazing. He was one of the reasons I took up lap steel too. _________________ www.pedalsteel.ca |

I don't think I would have ever picked up a lap steel if it wasn't for the Runnin' on Empty album.
I'm a little more drawn to Greg Leisz's playing these days, but Lindley is a core influence to me. _________________ ***WARNING: the above commentary is probably Chris' OPINION, and therefore, he thinks he's right. |

It's great how in-your-face Lindley is on the Running on Empty stuff. It's probably the most high-profile a lap steel has ever been in the pop charts and on radio. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

Same here for me. He was one of my early influences though other players have more or less supplanted him fas primary influences, you have to respect his confidence, intonation and great feel for melody. Seeing him live on Weissenborn a few years back made me appreciate even more what an amazing musician he is. |
