Looks like a young Dan Dugmore playing a Sho~Bud but hard to tell as the video isn't the best. I know he played for her on several tours in the mid 70's or so. Sounds like a S~B from that era! |

I still think that Dan's Blue Bayou solo was a stroke of brilliance. |

It's Dan...definitely not Ed.
Besides, in his Linda days Ed was playing a ZB. |

Chas, darn right it was. To me, that break is one of the top 20 favorite breaks of the 70's. I remember being so proud of myself when I had learned that break. Alas, nobody in the band could sing it so that was that. I picked it up out of the PSGA newsletter where participants would work out different lines and breaks. I got a whole stack of these newsletters but not the one with Blue Bayou _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Dan Dugmore needs to be in the Hall Of Fame. Out side of Paul Franklin he continues to play on more top ten hits then anyone else. His rap sheet is amazing. |

B0B I think his rap sheet is a take off of police jargon for a persons record with them, meaning his history of playing music and such,

I would never question Skip about it being Dan - Skip was right in the middle of that whole scene in those days! _________________ Mark |

I recently saw Dan on TV playing a Sho~Bud with a band that was backing up a wrestler!
I too love the "Blue Bayou" solo.....apparently it is a favourite of Buddy Emmons as well. It truly is a showcase of the Sho~Bud tone. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

The original record had Sneaky Pete doing the solo on this song. Similar feel to Dan's take, but better. |

I thought it was a good solo, but a "stroke of brilliance?" Please explain, Chas. |

I think what he means by "I think it was a stroke of brilliance" was that he liked it a lot. Same goes for me.
I love this old Linda stuff, specifically the whole "Don't Cry Now" record which is chock full of great steel playing by everyone from Sneaky Pete to Ed Black (and some guy named Buddy...)

OK, the steel work sounds a whole lot like Ralph Moony.I been trying to get close to that sound in some of the stuff I play but I know I will never be as good as those great players, but try I will. |
