I thought I was protected from viruses using AVG but I picked up a bad virus a couple of days ago. It's called "Trend Chip away virus" and it's on my boot drive. I'm using winxp home edition, how can I get rid of this virus without doing a clean re-install? I have 2 hard drives on this pc, can I move my file to the second HD or is it to late? |

We will need more information than just the name of the virus. How are you alerted to its presence? What program reported it to you?
Do you see a notification about "Trend Chip Away" when you first boot your computer? If so this may actually be virus protection built into your BIOS. Have you been tinkering with, or did you reset your BIOS lately? _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

Thnx Wiz and Cal, I haven't messed with anything in the bio's, and when I boot my system, this red alert says something about the Trend Chipaway virus. It gives me choices on how to proceed. I did what you said to do in the bio's and now it boots like it's supposed to! Thanx for the help!!! Denny |
