Going thru my file cabnet today looking for a sheet , here is what I found, thought it might be of interest to shobud owners.
Factor in everything and these guitars would not be a bargen today. The $4000.00 wold most likely be about $10.0000.00 today just a guess.
From this point of view todays guitars are a real good buy. I may be wrong some of you may have a better way to see the updated price list.
Look at the price of strings, todays prices are what they were back then.

Hmm... I don't know anyone who paid "list" for those.
I bought a brand new Super-Pro in June of 1990 for under $2k. I've still got the paperwork somewhere. _________________ Steve Stallings

Ernie,
The official US Inflation calculator at http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl
shows that $100 in 1991 equals $158.83 in 2009 dollars.
So $4000 in 1991 equals $6353 in 2009.

Dave I know nothing about the rate just took A wild guess, thanks for the info.
The person that bought in 1990 the price list was for 1991.
I guess they could sell for any price they wanted to.

When I was working at The New Frontier in Hawaii in the mid 60's a salesman brought three D-10's over for me to look at. I bought a nine pedal, one knee lever, Finger-Tip for $1,400.00. I still use it.

The LDG looks to be listed at $2800.00 then. I paid $900.00 for the one I had back in 1980.That's brand new. |

According to the Inflation calculator as linked by Dave, Kenny's 900 bucks in 1980 inflated to $1487.62 in 1991, and as of 2009 it stands at $2362.83
For the sake of comparison, how much is a new Jackson SD-10? _________________ Mark |
