After months and years, we are finally releasing the Jimmy Bryant/Buddy Emmons CD. Because of the many problems with lost masters and other things, this has been quite a chore.
As I have posted before, this is a CD featuring a live jam session featuring Jimmy Bryant, Buddy Emmons and Johnny Gore. Amazingly the 33 year old tape was in very good condition although Leroy Golden, the engineer, had to make sure the first cut was a keeper as the tape was shedding as the iron oxide was falling off. This is not a country steel guitar album. It is an album which does feature Buddy and does include a couple of Buddy's orginal tunes, Raisin' The Dickens and 4 Wheel Drive, along with other tunes. It is good. If you are a musician that enjoys the jams and improv, you will like this CD. I have probably played it several dozen times and still enjoy it.
Favorite parts of the CD are when Buddy and Jimmy trade eights on a tune titled 'Undecide' with Jimmy throughing his blazing speed at Buddy and Buddy answering him right back with his equally blazing speed. Buddy proves on this CD just why he is considered the king of the pedal steel.
Very little editing and lot's of impromtu chatter. You will hear Johnny Gore tell the great Jimmy Bryant to lay off if he can't cut it followed by much laughter. I've left much of the chatter in and the chatter is priceless.
Jimmy starts the CD with just him and his guitar. Great if you are into wild improv as only Bryant could do it. The 2nd cut is just Jimmy playing the great J. Davis tune titled 'Lazy Guitar.'
The rest of the CD features Emmons, Bryant and Gore.
This is a live recording so expect a pause here and there. We had no master so we had to do with what we had and I really think it is good. This is the only recording that Emmons and Bryant ever did head to head so it's almost a must. To me, it is historic in the steel guitar world.
The CD is $17.00 which includes the shipping. It is also available on Ebay listed as....Emmons and Bryant CD but has extra cost's as Ebay needs their part as does Pay Pal.
To order this CD at $17.00, send, preferably a post office money order, to: Dave A. Burley, P.O. Box 211, Franklin, In. 46131.
B0B......If this is in the wrong place, please move it. I'm old and don't know much about these puters and really don't want to learn. (G)
Thanks to everyone and be looking for many more unreleased recordings from the mid-seventies featuring many of your favorite and all legendary steel players.

An historic recording. They're just not making any more Buddy Emmons - Jimmy Bryant recordings anymore. And just in time for Christmas! Thank you for bringing this back to life for all posterity.

Before I go sending off money for this, I personally think you should put up some MP3 examples to listen to. Just some short 30 second samples would be enough. How about it?

I have played the tape for several musicians, steel players and others. Not one has said anything about poor quality, only praise for how good the quality of the 33 year old tape is. Making money is not on the top of my priority list. I just want to share with you all some great unheard recording's by some of our legends. I don't know how to do mp3 or whatever. I would welcome anyone that would like to put a few snippets on YouTube for me.. I really think that you all will like it. The only downside is that I wish it was twice as long. It can never be done again so this is what we have.

One thing I didn't take into consideration was the overseas shipping. Quite expensive and we can't do it free. Anyone know of a shortcut so I can cut some of the international shipping costs. Several of you have already emailed me wanting the cd but the international shipping is too much.
Thanks for your interest and I hope you enjoy the cd as much as I have and am.

Look into cdbaby. They have a digital download option. Other than that postage overseas is relatively cheap with USPS. Just add a shipping charge to overseas orders.

if i may Dave, rather than ship cds out as package, you get a better rate sending as a letter, it's a cheaper rate
Via USPS Priority Mail International is the cheapest & takes 6/10 days
also, some might not want the jewel case which can cut down on weight
basic shipping to europa for cd cost approx between : 10 $/15$
the guy on ebay charging 28 $ is outrageous !

I use USPS First Class Mail (large envelope) for international shipping of CDs. For a 4 oz CD it's under $4. You do have to fill out the little green customs form, though, and take it to the counter at the post office.

Thanks to b0b and some others, John has found a way to ship internationally for much less than he had originally thought. He will be resending invoices to those of you from out of the states with a revised shipping cost. Originally a shipping to Canada was 21.00 and now it is around $6.00. Bear with us as we are trying to cut corners. When living in Nashville I was used to shipping vinyl albums. It's a new ballgame. It's hard to teach an old man new tricks but I'm learning.
Thanks,

See the last item in this chart. A six ounce First Class Mail package to Canada is $2.53.
