I'm reluctant to part with this, because I've had it for nearly 30 years and it's been customized to my exact specifications, but I don't need 4 steels.
8 pedals, 6 knee levers, a wrist lever, and it has been retrofitted with th Sierra interchangeable pickup system and comes with both a George L Humbucker and a True Tone.
It also has a custom made vertical that can be activated while either the LKL or LKR is engaged.
$1,500 or best offer.

I forgot to mention that it also has a surgically installed tunable split on the 5th string. Dr. Jim Palenscar (who BTW is an actual veterinary surgeon, which is why his work is so precise, did the installation.
He also installed tunable splits on strings 4 and 8, with additional rods.
I also forgot to mention that th guitar hs Tom Bradshaw's raise/lower conversion inserts on 3 strings. Strings 5 and 6 have been converted to a triple raise single lower, and string 11 is now a triple lower single raise.

That is one seriously tricked out beautiful MSA, Mike. I do think, that after looking at the nylon tuners on the changer you missed two places where you could have added another one  . What is the copedent on this and will I need a Ph.D in physics, or applied mathematics to understand it? With all sincerity, this would be exactly the steel I would love to have if I wanted to try out the U tuning (which I do), but can't because I'm poor (which I am).

| I actually paid Mike and took possesion of this guitar but it was more than I could handle playing. He graciously acceded to my request to skuttle the transaction. It has uncommonly good sustain and string separation, to the extent that it makes an impression on you when you play it. |

Here is the Sierra modular pickup system with the pickup removed, and the George l and True tone pups resting on the strings.
The truetone.
The George L.
The changer with the tunable split installed by Jim Palenscar on the 5th string.
The wrist lever. (Note: The wrist lever is mounted in the hole originally used for the jack.)
The new jack, and a tap switch for use in a pickup with more than one sound (Note: Neither of the pickups that I'm including with the guitar have that feature.)
The undercarriage.
The vertical with a wooden extension covered in duct tape (for looks) and held in place with Velcro.
The vertical with the extension removed, held nearby so you can see the Velcro.

Would you recommend this guitar to a player who has no experience in
C6
U12 or
Ext E9
Just beginning to want to learn one of these after 16 years on the E9.

Chuck, what I think you mean is whether the SETUP on the is good for a beginner, and I can't answer that.
But the setup can be changed. The only permanent installations are the tunable split, and the interchangeable pickup system.
Everything else, the wrist lever, the changes on the bass strings (which make the pedals stiffer,) the triple raise/lower conversion inserts, my "bass-ackwards" order of the B6 pedal, etc, can all be removed and/or changed and the guitar can be set up any way you like, just like any other.
