Well, the 3rd Sunday of the month – December 20th – is coming up fast. The North Florida Steel Guitar Club (NFSGC) will hold its regular monthly meeting/concert SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20th. The location is Moose Lodge 2020, located at 5051 Collins Road, Orange Park, FL 32073.
Start time for the instructional period is 230pm sharp. This month, I will provide a brief pedal steel tutorial. The concert portion begins at 300pm. There are still a slots available, if you would like to play on the concert portion. Contact Lonnie Portwood and ‘sign up’ for a playing slot. We would love to hear a variety of players.
The Moose Club kitchen will be in operation, so those great burgers, etc., will be available. The NFSGC meeting/concert is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. There is no admission charge to attend the meeting/concert, so bring the family, come on out, have fun and listen to some fine steel guitar music.
I usually post this type of announcement in the same week as the club meeting, but some were wondering if we would have a meeting so near the holidays. So, I'm a bit early this time.

Boys, I sure do Miss my Fulawka. Ed has it up in Ontario changing it to a single 10, but keeping some great B6 moves on the lower 8. I won't have 11 and 12 But I'll still have access to most of the swing moves if I can just get the hang of it. When I get it back, I'll show you boys what a "real" guitar sounds like hooked up to that christmas tree and that session 400 Ken Fox "souped up" for me. I hate to do this to you fellers since ya'll keep switchin and looking for whatever it is you're lookin for!
this might cause you to sell everything you just bought! Oh well, a man has to do what a ma...I mean what a women tells him to!!! Jack and I played thru Kens amp was recieved very well and sounded very good, some nice compliments on m,y sound.
Jack Dougherty plyed so well and John Lemaster was his usual self, the back up band In Jax is exceptionaly good, the best, they are right there with you the whole time.
There was a Rickinbacker there and he played a Island song, the sound on it is something that needs to be heard, it was music to the ears, what a sound never heard anything like it before so good, and played so well. The player also makes his own guitars, a D8, more about him later after I get his E-Mail.

Yesterday was a good day at our club meeting, with several great players, AND we got to experience Ken's new hand wired all tube amplifier. I noticed immediately the full, round (fat) sound of matched tubes, AND beautiful separation, clarity of the strings from low to high! This amp can deliver the mellow fat, tight sound popular with jazz players, and you can tweak it with enough "edge" to cut the metal chains holding up the chandelier if you wish to. I didnt get to play with it myself, but will spend some time with Ken soon, I suspect that this amp is one of those rare amps which, altho designed for steel guitar, can also serve as a work horse for Tele And jazz instruments, which so many of you have sought. It only weighs 46 lbs, and if it proves capable of serving the steel and tele players, how great will that be? The craftmanship is excellent as well. Ken, I think you done gone and done it!!!You have upset the balance of power in many homes, since every picker will now be petitioning their wives for yet another piece of equipment. Trust me ladies, this will be the last amp he'll ever need!!! Thanks, Ken.
