There's one lick that's got me stumped on "Just to Be Your Man". It's about 2/3rds of the way through the song (at approximately 2 min 38 second) after the words
"Baby we ain't got no place to go". I've heard variations in other songs and it sounds like a bar movement down one or two frets coupled with a pedal or knee move. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Don't have an audio of the song before me, but would bet that the lick is the following (an Emmons lick). Assuming that the song is in the key of F# (the lick takes you from the 5 chord back to the one...ie. C#). Starting on the 11th fret, pick the 9th string, immediately sliding down one fret (to the 10th fret) and pick the 8th string, immediately sliding down one fret (to the 9th fret) and pick the 7th string, pick the 6th string and push the B floor pedal (assuming you have an Emmons setup). The phrasing is a little tricky at first, but keep working with it...it will gell.
Have fun,
Gary |

You might try this. (Emmons setup)
Bar on 2nd fret. Pick 10th string and bring down A&B, immediately pick the 8th string followed by the 4th string, let em ring.
Rock over to B and lower your E's while their still ringing. If you would like a little fuller sound add the 5th string
with the 4th. _________________ 1991 Emmons Lashley LeGrande II, D-10, 8x6/Session 400/RV3

Thanks for the help. I tried Gary's advice last night and with a little tweaking got the lick down. Larry I haven't tried your suggestion yet but I will tomorrow. Thanks again. |

This is a sweet lick...our piano player says it gives him goose bumps when he hears it on stage _________________ '74 Emmons D10 P/P 8x5,'15 Rittenberry D10 8x5, Peavey Nashville 112, 400 & 1000, Fender Twin Reverb Tone Master, Hilton, Goodrich L120, Boss DD-3 and RV-3 |
