Leon Russell has a version of "Six Pack to Go" that's playing on XM-12.

Anybody know who's playing steel behind him?

Kinda sounds like Bobbe.

I haven't heard the album in a long time, but according to CD Universe, the steel players on the album are Curly Chalker, Hal Rugg, Pete Drake, and Weldon Myrick.

The partial clip I heard had two steel players taking a ride at the same time.

That's from Leon's Hank Wilson's Back LP from 1973. Pete Drake, Hal Rugg, Weldon Myrick, and Curly Chalker all play on the album, but I'm not sure who is on each cut. I would guess either Curly or Hal on Six Pack To Go.

I remember that one of them was Chalker... can't remember who the other was.

I have the vinyl, where there are symbols (sp) behind each track like spades and hearts etc. To make it short for this track, it lists Pete Drake and Weldon Myrick.

It sounds like Curley on one steel and Pete on the other to me...the darker, jazzier of the two sounds like Curley, and the other one sounds just like Pete!

Thanks you-all. I had no idea that the tunes were recorded that long ago. Classic steel stuff that never ages.
