Ron, honestly if you were offered $2,800 grab it... I sold a BF Twin Reverb last year in dead mint as new/unplayed condition and got $2,250... Yours is in good but not exceptional condition, and to be perfectly honest, $2,800 is an extemely high price. I can promise you, and I am not being "smart", that you won't get offered more than $2,800 for it.. Personally I would have grabbed that money up and ran with it... Twin Reverbs and Super Reverbs are dropping like a stone value wise last 2 years... all the best luck..bob

Run, don't walk to that $2800.
Those corners on the top back are wrong too, more extra holes.
I'd ship the speakers separately if you don't sell it locally, those coffee cans are very heavy... |

dont forget that this is a '64, w/ "Fender Elec. Instrunemts" on the faceplace, much more valuable than if it was a CBS blackface twin.
If that had irog speakers (are they orig?) and no wheels, it's be worth $3500 maybe??
I dunno, but it IS pre-CBS. |

In the 63-67 Blackface market, Twins, Supers, have gone way down in value.. I can't say why, but I think portability is an issue. Bandmasters and Bassman are also down.. Showman have doubled in the last 4 years, and I have NO idea why... Vibrolux,Princeton Reverb and Deluxe Reverb just keep going up, but have slowed.
Even more unusual amps like the Tremolux are still a fair value...
Vibroverb?? still going up.. way up!- But even these have stabilized in price, IF you can find one.
Supers were WAY up 3 years ago, but prices have fallen off a cliff.. They were in the $2700+ range for a clean one a few years ago and tough to find.. Now you can buy players from 1000-1200, and real clean ones for $1400-1600.. Yes guys are still asking $2000+, but they are just asking, NOT getting. I have a few vintage Fender amps that are not worth what I paid, but thats the breaks.. I play them not collect them as an investment, so I don't fret over it. Hope Ron realizes we are not ganging up, just sharing what we know  bob

I agree with Bob...I have a '63 Super that I love and have no intention of selling, but would have a couple years back had I wanted to do so. I don't get the uptick in Showmans either...unless the heads are being matched with lighter cabs...easier on the back than the Twins (or Supers for that matter  ) |

Ron,
I think Bob is probably right. If your amp were pristine with original speakers maybe, to a collector who just leaves it as a showpiece.
Even though the speakers are better than original, they lower the value. Unfortunantly this is a buyers market (I am learning also) thanks to the economy.
The good news is they are not making anymore 1964 Fender Twin Reverbs. A great amplifier.

I know nothing of Vintage amp prices, but my local music dealer has a collection for show and sale.
The 1965 Vibrolux Twin Reverb (if that is right) is $2599, and it is well worn looking on the front.
They had another I think just a 1966 Twin Reverb, it was about $2499 I think.
Even on new products they aren't the cheap guys, so they could be asking a little high probably. |

| Anytime you want to get an idea of value on something, check Ebay and it's 30 day history. These have never sold over 2K. Take the $2800 and throw in a 25LB turkey to boot. |

Bob C and the others are right. Take the money and do so quickly before the buyer changes his/her mind.
FWIW,not too long ago, I sold my mint, all original '64 Twin Reverb to Eric Johnson (a very knowledgeable and discerning buyer) for less than $2K. We both got a good deal. |

Might be because they were a good deal for a long time. Guys started to set up rack situations that switched from head to head, so these became in demand a bit more. |

THANKS a lot guys for the helpful info. I just saw one on eBay for $3350.00 not orig. but with a road case. and been told by some people that some vintage amp places on line have been selling amps like mine in the past for much more money. But again maybe I should wait a few years for the price to go back up again. I know money is tight out there now.

I think that the vintage amps that draw the highest value are the ones that are totally stock or can be brought back to totally stock with little or no effort. This is a very nice amp here but as mentioned the speakers are not stock ( appear not to be ) and the two top corner guards have now left holes in the cabinet and tolex. For a premium collector or buyer that can be a distraction. For me it would not prevent me from buying the amp (if I was looking ) but it would prevent me from paying the premium price.
Ebay is a strange place for monitoring prices and probably not an accurate place for setting prices on vintage gear.
I also think that if an offer in the hi 2's comes around again it should be accepted.
for ex :
I recently made two EBAY purchases for older Fender amps which defy traditional EBAY pricing, I also am a stickler for examining photo's for the overall condition as well as chassis condition, I am not so worried about internal components as many need replacing anyway. The exception may be transformers but even there they may need to be replaced if the amp is going to be made gig worthy and reliable.
I see no reason not to try to sell this 64 Twin for a premium price, whats the worst that can happen, no takers ? You can always drop the price or accept a lower offer. It's a nice amp with good history.
