I would like to add some delay to my sound using a Boss DD-7. However, I really don't know how to properly use the delay unit. I'm using a NV112 amp and using the reverb within the amp. I have fiddled around with the DD-7 settings and can't seem to get anything I'm happy with.
Could some of you that use a Boss delay unit give me some pointers please? Ideally those that are using the DD-7 unit would be most helpful, but I suspect any of the Boss units would be similar. I think what I'm doing is fairly basic, but need some direction on the finer points of using a delay unit along with the amp reverb.
I'm going from the guitar-->Hilton pedal-->DD-7-->NV112 amp input.

Chuck,
First turn the reverb on your amp off for the time being, so you can really hear what the delay sounds like.
The most used delay effect is probably a short delay time (~400 ms) with one repeat (feedback off) at about a 20-30% mix.
This gives a chorusing effect and longer sustain.
As you shorten the delay time, it will begin to sound kinda rockabilly. This is a slapback echo effect. The mix has an effect as well.
As you add feedback, it begins to have a multiple reflection effect like reverb which can be useful.
Another useful delay setting is a longer delay time (~600ms) with a 50% mix and no feedback.

Add reverb and delay like salt and pepper, season to taste. Also, be careful not to turn the feedback much past 50% or you can induce a feedback loop. You will know when this happens I assure you! Hope this helps.

Hi Chuck, I use the amp reverb also, but I agree with Clete about turning it off. First I would hook up the DD-7 like this. Guitar to the DD-7 to the volume pedal and then to the amp. Settings are really your choice, but here are mine.
Elevel about 10 o-clock
Fback about 9 o-clock
Dtime about 12 o-clock
Mode about 1-clock
Now turn your reverb back on and try it. good luck. Larry
