Since Bill and Sean were reruns tonight and I saw they were showing the CMA awards again thought I would give it a shot and see what you guys were talking about. JEEPERS,CREEPERS,Now I can see what 98 percent of you were talking about. What a pathetic travesty !!! For the 2 percent that thinks this is country music, there is an old Yugo in my cow pasture covered with KUDZU ,I'll let you buy it for about twenty grand. Better HURRY,first e-mail gets it. A DOUBLE YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Kudzu? Ain't that a new model car from China that the U.S. is importing for 2010? Laughing

I don't think Kudzu grows above the Mason-Dixon line anyway. They say you can actually hear the stuff grow!!

Sorry, topic drift. Rolling Eyes

CMA Awards - Yep, it's been beat to death, but Bama did the proper thing. He watched it and gave it a chance. So, he has something to back up his comments.

Those awards make me so glad that I don't play music for a living. Those guys have got to eat, but I think I'd feel like a doctor being forced to amputate the leg because of an ingrown toenail.

My thoughts anyway. Smile

That's ok guys. we old southern country boys know what kudzu is. If any of our yankee cousins want to know will be glad to clue them in. Have seen many things, houses, cars, tractors, vanish, you got to move fast or it will get you. Warning, don't get drunk in Ga or Ala, and pass out along a fence row,you will never be seen again. Even the cows here are smart enough to know when they take a nap to lie down WAY out in the middle of the pasture. By the way it did come from asia,we call it the vine that ate the south.[That sounds like a Japanese horror movie].YOU BETCHA, DYK?BC.

I remember back on the 70's they were having a problem with some kind of huge rabbits supposedly taking over everything in Kansas. There was some talk about catching them and bringing them to Tennessee. My dad said if they did, we should take some kudzu out there and set it out. I don't think either ever happened.

This is what I found doing a search Question

Quote:
Traditionally, kudzo has been used to treat alcoholism, both as a morning after remedy and as a more long term type of intervention to help the person stop being an alcoholic.

It's obvious that your guys ignorance to what Kudzu is leads you to believe it's some kind of redneck, country #$#% term. However, if you ever do find out, you'll see that the joke is on you, because it's a real thing. It's kind of like a mosquito, only the good Lord knows what useful purpose it has.

Since you have formed your opinions without facts, I'll leave it up to you to do your own research and find out what Kudzu is. (I already know) Or, you can continue to throw your darts based on your misinformation.

I'm not offended at all, and there's some humor for all of us in this. So, please don't close the thread. It has strayed off topic, but we know the CMA dialog by heart anyway. I think this discussion is quite interesting.

I hope Bama will agree with me on this.

John,Don't feel sorry for me, Already have four spittons. Four hubcaps from my old 57 Caddy. They will hold a lot of Redman. My little honey only has to empty them once a month. Except the weekend I host a hootinanny .Those autoharp, zither, dulcimer, and drop thumb banjo pickers can chaw a hell of a lot of bacca. This event is growing so fast my little airstream is getting crowded. I'm going to buy me a brand new Tri-level Double-wide.But first got to find all those old cars and tractors in my yard that's covered up with KUDZU and move them so I will have room. Maybe some of you guys could come down and help me.Got to warn you our six foot Alabama rattlers love to nap under the KUDZU. But I will feed you real good. Will cook you up some collards, corn pone, and fat back. allways have RC cola and Moon pies for dessert,That alone will be worth your trip down south, so come on guys,ALL of you are welcome. By the way just built a NEW three seater down by the creek, you won't have to stand in line when nature calls. When we get the KUDZU cleared out [should'nt take over a month] Then we can party and pick and grin, when we get tired I have a collection of all the old Porter shows on BETA we can watch on my Motorola nine inch black and white tv, You are all welcome. YA'LL come on down lets PAAARTY. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Rick, Maybe ignorance may not be the right word. Ignorance is bliss, that's why I'm such a happy guy. Just like Li'l Abna I do know what KUDZU is,also know that actaea pachypoda, diervilla lonicera, betula nigra, are native plants of the great state of Iowa, that betula lenta, fraxinus americana, carya alba, are native to the empire state, even Canada has it's pycnanthermum virginianum. That little Alabama backwoods school did'nt help much with violating approved patterns of speaking or writing, nor having an acquaintance with the fundamentals of a particular field of knowledge. EXCEPT Mr. [bubba] Jones our FFA teacher. You did NOT leave that school untill you passed his phytomorphology class. Hell yeah I know what KUDZU is. YOU BETCHA, DYK?BC.

CC, Are you a Texas native ? I like to watch those Texas cooking shows on RFD. The other day they were cooking mountain oysters, now that's where I DRAW the line. Tell your bride to come on over. Bet she could fix us guys some good vittles while we are fighting the Kudzu,My little honey is from Southern Calif, she's been here 23 years and still can't make cracklin bread. Those Kaintucky girls knows how to do it.Won't cost her anything to come,I'll come pick her up on my old Elatra Glide,She can do the cooking and I'll put my little honey on the Kudzu crew. DEAL? YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

I see that we still don't have any comments from our yankee friends about the kudzu. When you do have this dinner, I want to bring my yankee wife. She don't know what kudzu is either. She don't even know what wahoo is. She calls pecans... pee-cans, and she calls carmel care-oh-mel, but she's pretty and she's a good wife, and she can cook really well. I'll bring a big iron pot and we can cook some soup beans over a fire. It's the wrong time of year for green onions, but I assume you've got some good onions hanging in some womens hose with knots tied between them. We'll cook some roast-neers too, and maybe eat some mush mellon.

Joe,you said fried breaded egg plant, yum, yum, and fried green tomatos. FRIED is the KEY word.I have a real good friend [a drummer and a damn good one] a native of NYC. Years ago he was stationed at Fort Benning here .Got hooked on Southern BBQ with the mustard sauce. Thirty years later he's still here. By the way does that gardooni taste like strawberrys ? that's what my FFA teacher said. if so bring it on down. YOU BETCHA, DYK?BC.

SORRY Bob,Will make a U-turn here and get back to music [I did mention my hootinanny] But some of the guys that don't know what Kudzu is may have thought I said KAZOO. KUDZU and KAZOO both relate to the South. The kazoo was invented by an african American, his name was Alabama Vest,The first ones manufactured to Vest's specifications was by a German clock maker Thaddeus Von Clegg in Macon Ga.It was introduced at the Ga. state fair in 1852. Now we got some music back in the music section. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.
