Serial number is S.896.92. I believe it is a 1992 model. Excellent condition and looks like very little playing time on it.
Three way selectors on each pickup. Some wear where the legs have folded up. Case is excellent and the tone and sustain are great! 57 1/2 pounds out of the case
I wanted to try a D10, going back to single 10 or a 12 string. I have it it close to a year and with the shop being so busy I have not put 2 hours of playing on it.
$1695.00 and shipping. PayPal fee extra.
PayPal fees at 3.2 percent

Don't believe that is a '92. Looks more like a 70's or early 80's, maybe about 83. |

Roy, at one point or another, I've had three Crown models and they all looked like Ken's and were all from the early 1990s Great guitars.... I almost pushed the button to buy this one but my items on The Forum have not been selling as of late. stevet |

Thanks Steve, I had never seen a Crown with that late of a date. The Crown I had was back in the 80's. For dang sure, they are great guitars.
The other thing that caught my eye was the allen screws for locking down the strings vice the "finger wheels" on the keyless pad. |

Roy, you are correct that the model Crown was made throughout the 1980s for sure. Maybe we could get David Wright (or anyone else closely associated with Sierra) in here to say when Sierra stopped production of that model as they transitioned to the Session. I'd be interesed to know. steve t |

On the Sierra the year is stamped into the serial number, I believe the last 2 digits. _________________ BMI S12 Zane Beck's Tuning

I have a call into Tom Baker. I had a gearless U12 many years ago (wish I still had it!!). It was an early 90's with the same tuners.
You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner and nicer playing guitar. |

Info from tom:
The guitar's last two digits indicates the year built, 1992
Seventies and eighties guitars had 1 digit only for the year built!
The Session series was introduced with the D10 available in May 1992. The U12 came out in Dec 92
Some Crown series guitars were still built from 1992 thru 1995 |

Hey Ken, thanks for the history lesson from Tom. I didn't mean no dis-respect toward your steel, I was just comparing it to one I had. |

Ken a little history on this guitar, it was owned by a friend in the Florida club, he plays a 8 string Fulaka and bought a new Jackson 8 string in Dalas this year from David Jackson, he never played the Siera. He sold it to Jennings ward, Jennings never played it, I went to his house brought it here and you bought it from me, so the guitar was not played for years till you bought it from me, I never played it either.
There are no scraches on this one it is mint.

there are some scrathes on the legs, typical when folding them up on a Sierra. Other than that it has had little playing time for sure.
Still available. |

I used to own a Crown Series 14 gearless 25. It was one of the best playing guitars I ever had. I wish I had it back.
These are some of the best guitars ever made and will last a lifetime. |

Pat, got a nice U12, Sierra Crown gear-less or??? I love the tone of this guitar, I just can't devote the time to learn the C6th neck. Too many irons in the fire! |

Tell Keith if he is ready to unload that Tele on trade for one of my amps I can do him a deal!
That would be a nice Christmas present for Keith anyway. Maybe you guys need to take us a collection!!! |

Ken....
Had 2 U12 Crowns (one wood and one mica) and sold them both last spring to get my current horn.
I'll check with Keith on the Tele. I want it too, but it may be a bit beyond me right now.
If you haven't already, check out the link in my recent post under Steel Players. It's a hoot!
You guys have a safe and happy holiday season. _________________ Patrick Goodbla

Looks like a great steel for the money, Ken. Unfortuantely..."mumble, mumble, the bad economy, mumble, would have to sell one of mine, sigh and groan, if I had the dough..." I guess you get the picture. There are some great steel deals here and now on the Forum and I want 3-4 of them, including yours, but...(see above)
Best of luck on the sale and I'm buying two Lotto tickets tomorrow.
