- John Campbelljohn Featured on Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special -

The Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special will be aired this Sunday, December
12th at 9 pm EST.

This year's special features a church scene which includes a few hundred
extras and is highlighted musically by a performance of "Away In A Manger"
featuring John Campbelljohn on the pedal steel guitar. Due to a prior
engagement, John couldn't make the taping but the stand-in hired to mime
John's playing did an excellent job!

The opening theme song, as well as a wonderful version of "Auld Lang Syne"
along with various traditional carols throughout the show were all performed
by Campbelljohn on the pedal steel. John's rendition of the festive classics
and also his playing can be summed up by Bubbles in the Church scene when
Bubbles leans over to Julian and whispers, "This Guy's Awesome!"

Watch for the show this coming Sunday at 9 pm EST and keep an ear peeled for
John Campbelljohn's holiday inspired pedal steel guitar.

Campbelljohn is managed by Grant Leslie of Shepherd Leslie Entertainment.

I watched the show and was very happy to hear Steel Guitar being used as a filler between scenes. Way to go John. Best regards. ..jeff

Thanks Jeff.

I guess I should take this opportunity to quickly introduce myself. I've been lurking here for over five years but just recently joined the Forum. I've been playing pedal steel for only four years or so & it can be very, very frustrating at times but I love it...got the steel bug bad. You folks on the forum have been an enormous help, from regular inexperienced guys like me on up to the superstar superpickers. Thoroughly informative & entertaining. Just great! Many thanks for the many hours of insight into the steel guitar.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.

Bye for now,
John

Darn Nova Scotians and their darn talent! Oooh!

That was great playing, John. It completely made my day. That version of the theme song was top-notch. Everyone I watched the show with (a bunch of writers, not steelers) had the same reaction as Bubbles-- we all just grinned and nodded in silence every time there was a steel break. I think the solo steel really added a lot to the intensity and timelessness of that episode.

Sorry that an actor had to "play" your part, but at least they didn't make you harvest hemp plants in the middle of the night at gunpoint, like Rita MacNeil.

That theme song is great, I just listened to it again. Is there an MP3 or video of this floating around somewhere? It'd be nice to show it to people and play on the radio.

Lemme know...
Thanks

Hi Dwayne,

Thanks for the kind words bud. Very encouraging. If you want to email me in private, I'll see if I can put you in touch with the powers that be re/info on that mp3.

Kinda blowing my own horn here but...

The show is being rotated throughtout the Christmas season in Canada. You can click here for more info - http://www.novascotiaarts.com/johncampbelljohn.htm

Very rough language. Some people may find this show offensive & it's not for children.

Thanks again for your time & have a Cool Yule!

John
