Has anybody ever chrome plated their pedal rack on the MSA CLASSIC circa 1973 ish.
Who could do that kind of work?

I have polished them. They come out nice but it is a little bit of work.

Any good chrome plater could polish it out and plate it. Just check the 'net or yellow pages. You should expect a price well over $100 to plate the (assembled) bar.

(You might be better off just taking it to a motorcycle shop and having it polished and buffed.)

Actually you would have to disassemble the bar- have it plated (first they'd have to sand and polish it)- the reassemble it. I think a decent polish job would give you what you are wanting w/o the plating.

I had 1. It had a coat of flat aluminum paint on it. This has to be sanded off with fine sandpaper to
keep scratches from getting too deep.
I took it to a body shop with a 1 inch wide polishing wheel on a bench grinder. Use Jeweler's rouge. ( looks like octagen soap )
This stuff polishes the aluminum to a shine better than chrome and chrome will pit later. If the aluminum fades out you can polish it again.

Here is a example of one of the ones I polished. Not the best picture but you get the idea. Notice the reflection of the leaf.

Wow!!! Thanks gents, i'll have to sandblast it first because mine is painted gun metal grey by me in a hopeless attempt to try and make it look better, it was in very rough shape before. Very Happy

How did you polish that again please???

I would try some brake cleaner. often it will take the paint off pretty easy. I sanded it with a DA ( dual action ) sander working towards a finer grit . I used 180 to get any nicks worked out then 220 , 320 , 400 , & 600 . If yours is like mine it is sort of a brushed aluminum and you will nee to sand all the "lines " out so it is smooth. I bought only a few sheets of the 400 and 600 paper . Most automotive paint stores sell them by the sheet. After that I used some 1000 and 2000 wet or dry paper and wet sanded it. I bought a buffer at Harbor Freight just for polishing guitar parts. I use 2 different compounds on the buffer . These I got at Lowes. It seems to me the hotter you can keep it the better the shine. Gloves will be needed. Hope this helps . I forgot to mention I use Meguires Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum poish after the buffer. Available at most any auto parts store. This is a 73 also .
