Dec 11th, Sun Country Jamboree is featuring Laney and Russ Hicks, and The Hammontree's, Jacksonville's own southern gospel group. Mike Hammontree is one of the most accomplished pianoist in the country!!! Why, when Russ hears him, he might even let him play along on their sets!! Folks, you don't want to miss this show for you can enjoy some great traditional country and gospel like you used to hear on the OPRY and country radio. The show is @ The Spirit of The Suwanee Misic Park, Live Oak, Fla., just below the Georgia line 4.5 miles off I-75. Good restuarant, RV sites, cabins, 6 miles from hotels, restuarants, including a Waffle house, AND Huddle House!!! Can you believe it!!Check our website: www.suncountryjamboree.com Come early or you'll have to stand. Thanks for listening! Lonnie Portwood |

Just a reminder, Dec 11th, Suncountryjamboree is featuring Laney and Russ Hicks, selections from the new CD, Matters of The Heart, which is one of the finest I've ever heard! The choice of songs, Laney's interpretation, and Russ's playing/arranging can not be improved upon!!!Also, The Hammontrees, a great Gospel group, doing traditional, southern gospel the way you love it! We expect our biggest crowd yet.Bring your RV/camper and spend the weekend with us. Motels and resturants just 5 miles away. Check our website, www.suncountryjamboree.com Ya'll Come!!! Lonnie P. |

Lonnie I just Talked to the Moores and asked them to stay here with us to help defray the cost of comming, I called kennith Keen a friend of mine to bring over one of his Motor Homes so Larry and Yevone will have a place to stay while here, and told Yevone she could sing with us Saturday at the Party for Suwannee Insurance co. in Live Oak Fl.
We may need those two front rows.
This will be the greatest Sun country jam EVER, they can only get better from here,
Look out 2005 we are comming.
While on the Band wagon Rob Parker and I will do a section of the show at Douglasville Ga. in Feb. 2005, one of the songs will be Dreams Of a Dreamer, I am counting the days till this one.

The excitement is building as we approach Saturday night, Dec. 11. The Sun Country Jamboree will be a showcase of country and some gospel music.
Featured will be Penny Lynn, The Hammontrees, Harold Meeks, Terry Campbell, Loren Propper, and of course, Russ and Laney Hicks.
I am privileged to be playing bass on Russ and Laney's portions of the show, along with Jim Hartley on drums. I will be playing steel on the other portions of the show, if my nerves can stand it!
The Spirit of Suwannee Music Hall is a great venue with a large stage and a "theater" type feel to the room. Hey, there's even a restaurant there in the building.
Looking forward to seeing many friends on Saturday, including Ernie Cawby and family. Ernie will likely be taking some photos of the proceedings to post on his website.
See you on Saturday night,
John L. |
