Hi. I finally got around to pick up my new gear: it's a MSA classic U12. 4 knee levers, 7 floor pedals. Got it from (the very nice person) Henri Sahilatua in the Netherlands.
I think I'll stick to my Maverick that I'm used to for gigs, and study on this beast for some time before taking it out.
I also have to do some work on the copedent and general set-up (pedal travel etc.)

A question for connaiseurs: It's serial nr is 1C5458. What is it's production date (and other info? - seller didn't know)

As it is common for forum members, I'm posting this, along with some pics.

It's a maple body, so it was made in the late 70s.

If the fretboard is silkscreened under the lacquer, chances are it's '78 or later. If has an external fretboard attached to the neck, it's probably from '76 or '77. (I can't tell from the pictures.)

It has a double raise double lower changer, which is fine for an extended E9, but if you decide to put the E9/B6 universal tuning on it, you'll want to get 2 of Tom Bradshaw's conversion devises installed in the changer on strings 5 and 6. These convert the double raise double lower to a triple raise singer lower on those 2 strings.

This is very similar to the guitar shown in my avatar.

That's the same as my first pedal steel. It was a red MSA U12. Bought it in 1979. Well designed steel, stays in tune. Yours looks brand new. Very nice.

Hi Jan,

Congratulations to the upgrade of guitar. That model is one of the MSAs I'd really like to have. I'm really looking forward to hearing you play more nice jazz tunes on this new guitar.

That is one beautiful guitar. Actually the I took delivery of my lacquer U12 with a silk screened fretboard in early '77 so it could be that early. Reece has all the serials so perhaps an email or call to him would give you the definitive year of production.

ok,
here are some pictures of the guitar, on and off stage.

But Adrian, when watching the clip you sent: I got goose bumps. Because Henry is playing what could be the guitar I'm playing right now. I may 2013 I acquired a red MSA D10 Classic SupersustainII, set up my Mat Davelet, previous owner JJ Bellenger. Maybe he got it from mr. Sahilatua? If so, what a great coincidence if I have two guitars that once were his.

I don't know if it was the same guitar, that is what I'm trying to say. But it sure looks the same.
And yes he's a fine player
