Mike, give my Marine brother,- your Grandson,- a special Semper Fi. We're all proud of him.
I was a Marine a long time ago in '48, '49 & '50.
Anyway, Once A Marine, Always A Marine and as always--------The Few, The Proud, The Marines.

Almost forgot to mention that I was a steel picker up until about 15 years ago when my left shoulder and arm lost feeling.
But I still have my Fender Dual 6 Pro ('56 or '57)which is in pristine condition

Yep, the USMC was started on November 10, 1775, at Tun Tavern, in Philadelphia. Here is the "scoop" from the USMC Press:

| On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress commissioned Samuel Nicholas to raise two Battalions of Marines. That very day, Nicholas set up shop in Tun Tavern. He appointed Robert Mullan, then the proprietor of the tavern, to the job of chief Marine Recruiter -- serving, of course, from his place of business at Tun Tavern. Prospective recruits flocked to the tavern, lured by (1) cold beer and (2) the opportunity to serve in the new Corps of Marines. So, yes, the U.S. Marine Corps was indeed born in Tun Tavern. Needless to say, both the Marine Corps and the tavern thrived during this new relationship. |

Several Chesty Puller quotes in the video. Interesting and very cool trivia....My uncle SgtMaj Jim Cunningham (retired in 1968) was Pvt. Cunningham in Lt. Puller's platoon in China, pre-WWII! 1935, I think.

My dad was in the Army during WW2. But one of his 1st cousins joined the Marines. He was 14 months younger than my dad. His name was G.S. Guynn. He was 19 years old when he was killed on Okinawa May 12, 1945. So I praise all our Marines on the corps birthday and remember the ones who paid the ultimate price for my freedom.

I canceled Saluda to play a Marine party tonite at Trenton Fl., Mad Italian Res. The Youngest Marine retired is cutting the cake with a sabour and serving it to the oldest retired Marine, I feel real hourned to be playing for them.
