It is my opinion that this guitar has been refinished and the owner just never got around to re-installing the fretboards.

If I had that guitar, I think I would just put small smiley face decals on for position marks and small black numbers under the first string denoting the frets. Rolling Eyes

At the twelfth fret, I'd write a small statement:
"You are half way, start over to the right of this mark."

Then I'd call it a student steel guitar for today's young musicians. Crying or Very sad
