This is a great opportunity that should really be taken advantage of in addition to the regular fellowship and comradery found at the ASGC meet up and jam.
Sunday Schedule
The Steel Guitar Lesson for newer players at 1:00 P.M. has made a request for some info on Band in a box… So that is what we will do.. at 1:00
It would also good to pre-submit questions and subjects to be covered in order to take full advantage of the Band in a box lesson.
Time: Sunday Nov. 8th at 2:00 P.M. (2nd Sunday of each month)
Place: 290 West Bar and Dance Hall. MAP / DIRECTIONS
The 2:00 Jam will start with some guide lines about playing etiquette in a round robin setting.
We will kick it off with Herb, then each person that wants to, is invited to do a solo song with the Parker Brothers Band, with special guest Hugh Sparks, so bring a few songs in mind for solo piece or two.
After solo performance’s, The round robin will begin in which everybody can pick songs to go around the circle, passing the ride, lead , or backing parts.
The Austin Steel Guitar Co-op meeting will be a fun time with equipment for sale, lots of interesting stuff for PSG people.
Bring Pedal Steel equipment to Buy, Sell, Trade and if you have PSG products to sell or promote please feel free to bring them out and set up at one of our tables.
Singers and other players are welcome to join in and give the Parker Bros a break.
Contact Ken Metcalf for details.

Ken,
The jam was a great time last month and I'm sure it will be again! I just purchased a C6 course from Herb, it would be good to hear his take on C6, as well as hear him play!
Learning how to do endings, tags, coda's etc. would be a good thing to learn on BIAB. I'm still trying to figure that out!
Looking forward to another great Austin Steel Guitar CO-OP Jam!

Ken, you sure know how to pick em.....
You got a knack for finding the great talent for the leader of the seminar.
Even though Herb just got older, his memory should still function enough for a great seminar.
Great guy. _________________ Ray Harrison

Thanks Mack and Ray!
Ray, I'm surprised and slightly astounded that at your advanced age, you even remember who I am! But again, thanks for the compliments. Uh... refresh me... you're the fellow that lives in... where? New Mexico or Arizona? Or is it Utah? I'm pretty sure it's somewhere east of California... am I close?
Mack
You can ask me anything about C6 you like at the meeting. I don't know if I can answer your questions, but you can fer sure ask 'em.
Codas, tags, and endings are pretty easy on BIAB. If Ken doesn't cover the technique, I can certainly help you with those. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Thanks Mack, Ray and Herb !
We'll knock some of those BIAB bar settings and endings and I'll bring some examples on CDs.
Hey who all is coming??
This is a great opportunity to stretch out into some new territory, Boldly learn licks where you have not tried before.
We all have our comfort zones to get out of.
Think of a question for herb.
I would like to learn some things to help increase speed, as I think I am in a rut with that...
SURELY You guys can come up with something better that that!! _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

Just a correction, Ken. or maybe a clarification.. it definitely won't be a "stump Herb day." I'm not asking for challenges to show off my knowledge or lack of knowledge.
I've been playing steel guitar for over 40 years and have opinions about things concerning steel. I'll answer questions about how I approach a tuning, scale positions, what I consider correct stage work, correct or incorrect technique, stuff like that. If I play a particular song and someone asks how I think about melody, I'll be happy to discuss that.
The Alan Jackson song sounds easy enough. I can show how I might approach it, but I'm probably not gonna learn Paul's solo note for note. That's up to the players themselves to figure out, if they have the desire. I have enough stuff to learn with the bands I work with to take up enough of my time as it is. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

I plan on being there. Last one was great. Herb is one of my favorites, as is Jim Loessberg who was there last time. I learn something from someone each time. |
