NONE of us can stand, at least while we play.

We get to sit and relax, while the poor guitar and bass players do all the work. Mr. Green

So is this one of those artistic rearrangements of sentence order, so that "Steel players I cannot stand" would be, in prose, "I cannot stand steel players"?

As in, "I can tolerate a lot, but steel players I cannot stand"?

Inquiring minds want to know. Shocked Razz Mr. Green

In the words of Will Rogers "I Never Met A Steel Player I Did Not Like) I don't think he said it exactly that way, but I am sure that is what he was thinking.

I think there must be a few players that he never met, Wilburn. Because there's a few that would have made Will change his mind! Wink

Here's a true story that supports Mike Perlowin's statement:

Gordon Terry, fiddle player and singer, and I were good buddies when we were both on the GOO back in the 40's and 50's. I talked to him on the phone just a few weeks before he passed on. He told me how bad his health was and said he didn't think he had a lot of time left. I said that I was thankful that I was still in good health. Gordon said, "Yeah, but you steel players got to sit down."

Ray, you are my buddy, why would you think you'd be on the list.
Actually I'm like b0b, I like them all. This steel world we all love is different. It dosen't matter how good or bad some one is, Its about this awesome instrument. I have found more respect here than i ever had in the six string world.
I just thought this would be a fun thread. So keep em coming.

Great story Roy, but doesn't sitting put more stress on the back compared to standing? The only steel players I'm not particularly fond of are those whose egoes are way too large. I just can't separate the performance from the personality though I know I should be able to. steve t

Hey Bill,
I thought you had left the comma out: "steel players, I cannot stand". Razz like "Playing, I cannot stand".
