Topic: Does anyone know where Chuck Rich is? |

I heard him play at the Steelguitar convention when it was at the other place on Kings Highway Once but maybe 2 times, Not sure. He was a great player and I think he was from Indiana, or Illinois,not sure. Maybe Scotty can answer that.Ron

He was playing at Bobby Mackie's in the Cincinnati Ohio area. He's usually at the Kentucky Classic Steel Guitar show in Lexington sometime over the weekend. It's coming up first weekend in November. I think he is a forum member, so he can tell you for sure if he reads your post.

Thanks Jerry.Since you say that he played in Cincinnati.I do remember now that maybe it was Ohio that he was from.Bad memory on my part but I do remember he was a great player....Ron

Hi Ron, I heard you were looking for me. Are you from the IRS Ha Ha! I see your from Flushing Mi. I grew up in Lapeer just east of you and moved to Cincinnati to work at WLW (radio and TV in the mid 60's did a lot of recording in Cincinnati in the 70's and 80's. I retired from the medical field 6 years ago but still play 2 nights a week at Bobby Mackey's Music World.I'm playing the Lexington Guitar show next week.

Hello Chuck, Glad to hear you are still playing and I'm sure even better than at the old Kingshighway steelguitar show in St Louis. My wife and I were really impressed with your playing then and we would like to hear your playing again but I can't make the Lexington Guitar show but at least I know your still playing and someday we will get up and see you...I am not from the IRS either  It's good to know that a fellow Michigander is doing well at playing.I was born in Hickman Ky though..Thanks for the answer back....Ron

Let me tell you what a terrific guy/player Chuck is. He will not remember this, but when I was first getting started doing sessions, "Duke" Dumas and I rode up to Queen City to do an album project for a guy named Roger Horne. (I was only there to play harmonica.) It was supposed to be a six hour day; it went for 14 hours, I fell asleep in the control room on a song they didn't need me on (slept for three hours, woke up, they were STILL on the same song!), and Chuck was the nicest, most polite guy there. And his playing... and, oh my gosh, what wonderful tone. I've never forgotten him!

Hi Mike, Whew, I do remember that recording session. Boy that was a long one was'nt it? Roger Horne, if I remember right was the keyboard player for the Cathedral Quartet. I had known Duke Dumas from his days with the Happy Goodman Family.To bad we didn't get paid by the hour instead of the session.!! Good to hear from you after all these years.

Mike,
I don't remember who all was on the session from Cincinnati. Sad to say Dumpy Rice (I used to call him Lumpy Corn) passed away about 4 years ago. He was a great guy and a very creative keyboard player.
