Does anyone know who played steel on Gary's live at Billy Bob's CD. I just picked this up at the ET Record Shop. It's got some of Weldon's classic licks that were on the originals, but I hear an abundance of the 1st string raise that's so common in today's music. It's a decent CD, but I wanted Gary to hit the high note on "Room Above Street" and he didn't do it.

Oh Well

I believe it was Steve Palousek and I thought he hit it out of the park.

Gary's voice might not have been all that it once was, but I thought over all this was a terrific album and listen to it frequently.

I agree, it's good playing. I've don't know much about Steve's playing, but this is certainly good. Gary has always been one of my favorites. The CD has fold out label with lots of credits, you'd think they'd tell who the players are. I suppose that's more important to us pickers than it is to the rest of the world. Smile

Steve is defintely the steeler. I've put a few posts on the Forum about this CD. The thing that amazes me is how well the steel is out front, in one channel. He and Fleming do some great twin stuff. It is one heck of a "steel" album, with some singing also. SmileSmile

I've had the CD for a while, great stuff by Steve.

Bill, I never could find credits for the musicians anywhere on the copy I have, although I seem to remember everybody on the Billy Bob's staff was listed, right down to the bartenders and stock provider.. Confused

Speaking of stock provider, anybody know if they still do the buck outs in the back??? I used to go hang out back there between sets and watch the cowboys get beat up by the bulls. Smile

Bill, you are right. I remember us having this conversation before> I have since loaned that CD out and have never gotten it back. I was thinking that it listed him on the CD. Now that I think about it Steve came on and posted it was him.

Gary's music is the reason I started playing steel.
'Broken hearted people', 'Ten years of this'. outta sight!! New Riders turned me on too!

Thanks Bob.

Off topic: Is it just me or do you guys find those Myspace sites to be cluttered and difficult to navigate, compared to other web sites? Confused

The tracks on Steve Palousek's site are very nice to listen to. Thanks for the tip! Is that Jonell Mosser on the track with vocals?
