I've done the comparison video, Comparison Tests of Harbour Lights Guitar, Fender Stringmaster D-8 and Fender 1000, Through a Roland MicroCube, Peavey Nashville 112 and a Fender "Bronco"
TOTALLY unedited ..I even left in all the warts wrong notes and re-starts etc..
Tribotone bar Dunlop .018 picks and Dunlop Thumbpick.

BTW the Dailymotion site is useful as it has a TWENTY minute time limit on the videos as opposed to YouTube's one of TEN minutes..

The object was to see how close each guitar could sound to each other WITHOUT changing the amp eq. Not concentrating on sustain so much as TONE. the amplifier input impedance altered the ratio between the two guitars that I was putting through an ABY switch, making it obvious that tone is also directly related to the guitar matching the amp input impedance.

I hadn't heard of Dailymotion before. I can see what you mean about the 10 min. limit on YouTube. In the first video you're just about to turn to the Fender 1000 when the ten minutes is up and the video stops. Unfortunately, when I play the second video, on Dailymotion, it cuts out as you're about to play the Stringmaster for the second time, and jumps to a totally unrelated video.
(I just played it again (28 Oct) and it played all the way through without interruption. It must have been my internet connection at fault.) Embarassed

From what I've watched, I don't hear very much difference with or without the MicroCube. Overall I think the Stringmaster without the MicroCube sounds best, and using the external microphone rather than the internal speaker sounds best. (I'm playing this upstairs through the speakers on my monitors. I'm sure it would sound much better downstairs on my hi-fi system, but I've lost the internet connection in my den downstairs.)

The Dailymotion version played all the way through for me without problems.

From what I could hear, the Harbour Lights guitar had less low-end than the two Fenders. I'm not sure I kept it straight which amp was being used, but I think the Bronco ran out of headroom on the Stringmaster.

I'll get 'round to doing a better recording later in the week after the magazine is posted out..

For me the winner is Harry Sheppard's creation, Harbour Lights Guitar - unique..
