Bonus points if you know what brand guitar she's playing - and is that a "boo-wah" button she's using in her second solo? |

The woman's name is Marion Hall, and it looks like a Bigsby guitar that she is playing. Hope that answers the question. Great video, with some great talent. Joe is one of my favorite players, as is any steel player.
Don't know if you knew this or not, but Joe Maphis was hired by Ozzie Nelson to play behind his son Ricky on his first recordings, before James Burton took over.

Is it possible that you're referring to the rapid DOUBLE PUMP of the volume pedal used by many of Hank Thompson's steel players for 'a signature' sound and/or Speedy West?
I saw nothing to indicate the use of ANY KIND of device.......? |

Watch her right leg when she does the effect. You can see that she is operating a floor pedal. |

Ray, I wasn't sure if she did something with her right hand/arm around 2:21 and 2:26, but apparently she does that movement when she's using the volume pedal. In the Cindy Cashdollar interview in Vintage Guitar magazine Marian said she used a volume/wah pedal, so maybe the "wah" part is what I was hearing.

Right, Jerry was just "wallpaper" for that song. Seen but not heard. That's the music biz. As long as the check arrives at the end of the week... that what's important!
