Just received a bar from Marty that's gorgeous. I wanted one 13/16", in between the commonly available 3/4" and 7/8", and he nailed it. Thanks, Marty!

I'm adding my name to the list of happy customers of Marty Smith.

I've posted my thanks and appreciation in a couple of other posts, but wanted to bump this one up also.

Thanks again Marty!

Marty, what would a titanium bar be like? Would it be lighter, harder to scratch? More expensive?

Titianium mostly would have its own tone.and cost would be about double. Remember its very light. You will have to try one to see,

Marty, Do you have the specs on the two bars I got from you? If you do I need one more like the number 2 bar only lighter and 1/4 inch longer. These are the best bars around. Stanley

Hi Marty,

Do you get them chrome coated? What are the advantages and disadvantages to chrome coatings on bars?

Also, your bars are hardened? Do you know what rockwell value they are hardened to?

Thanks,
Jesse

Jesse,
I normally dont chrome, but I can. I only burnish harden since I usallly use 303 and 304 . I dont know the exach hardness about Rockwell c40-45. I dont like the way the super hard bars sound, and I think any harder that this is just good for poor handeling like droping the bar on the concrete. But if thats what you want I CAN do it.

Howdy Marty, looks like you can make any kind of bar in the world. So how 'bout one that will make me sound just like Jimmy Day? Mr. Green

Im a machinist ( 37 1/2 yrs.retired) I've made a lot of things, everything from space ships to lawn mowers but never made a bar, especially a tapered one, been in a lot of bars. They weren't tapered when I went in but were slightly askew when I left.

Here's a couple shots of the bar Marty made for me, it's a "normal" 1" X 3 3/8" but only 5.5 oz - zip, zip, zippie. It's pictured with an old 70's Harris slide and one of my bronze machine-bearing numbers (named "My Big Johnson" for apocryphal reasons), because if you sawed off Marty's bar to about 2 1/2" it'd be a wicked guitar slide. But I like it the way it is. Mr. Green
