James,

I'm a bit confused (maybe ignorant) about 'low impedence' and 'passive' said together for a volume pedal. Could you provide some info about what that means? Special 3 conductor jacks at the inputs and outputs to pass balanced signal?

I have a DeArmond 1622 dual channel, dual pots, gear driven, stereo volume pedal in Excellent 9/10 condition; But it's 2 input and 2 output jacks are standard high impedence instrument jacks (2 conductor, 1/4" phone jacks). It's $75 plus shipping. If that will work for you, I'll pull it, bench check it for noise and service (ensure the pots and drive gears are sync'ed for correct full on / off throw stops, and check the drive gear for a kiss of lithium grease), and provide you a carton measurements and weight to choose your shipping preference (it might fit in USPS's new largest flat-rate Priority Mail carton).

(Sorry for the cruddy picture; It's from the ebay files from when I purchased it awhile back; ....and my digital camera is in the shop for repair).

There are pedals out there by Boss and Ernie Ball that have 25k and 45k pots in them. They are made to be placed AFTER pedals instead of directly after the instrument. The are listed as "low-impedance" and they don't require a power supply. No power supply = passive, no?

I might be interested in the DeArmond, depending on how easy it is to change the pots. Can the gears easily be transferred to other pots? Can you provide a shot of the inside?

So, just to be clear, this pedal has two pots and not one ganged stereo pot?

James,

As said above, my camera is in the shop; I will try to locate another camera to use for the guts pic you requested. In the meantime I opened the bottom access panel, did a detailed inspection, and will get it typed out along with more detailed answers to your questions ASAP.

The pots are dual / separate / stacked, 100K, Allen Bradly, audio taper mil spec pots sharing the same shaft. They are a piece of cake to replace; Removing the bottom plate gives access to the entire interior where everything is wide-open accessible.

The pots drive gear is secured to the pots shaft by allan screw through a thick steel collar around the gear stem; The gear will slide onto any SAE solid shaft audio pots.

The quality of parts, materials, design and construction looks military grade; VERY sturdy and strong.

At almost 9:00 AM here, and still up from yesterday, (and gettin' pretty punchy Confused ) ...I'd better wait until after I sleep before I swear that by parallel bridging a proper value resistor to each of this pedals pots, ...you could make them any resistance you desire under 100K and still not effect the pots / pedal's throw; Akin to speaker impedence in parallel, or putting a resistor in a guitar circuit to defeat tone roll off when the volume is turned down.

Back atcha ASAP.

I wonder why a 100k pot was used? Don't see that very often or am I wrong?

Nevertheless, I want it. I've emailed you through the forum so take a look at your inbox so we can discuss Paypal or other payment options.

Let me know what to do next.
