Bill
I am a big fan of the police, incidentally...

I understand your outrage, but the guitar was stolen a couple of years ago. Lord knows how many hands it went through before it reached the eBay seller, who's probably gonna experience his OWN loss when... and if... Bobbe recovers the guitar.

I've personally gone through this whole thing myself, and in my experience, police generally have their own priorities and lots more important things to do than to cater to the anger and vengeful feelings of someone who actually recovered their merch... like maybe solving OTHER property crimes that 1) have occured more recently, 2) involve larger dollar amounts, 3) are in their own jurisdictions, 4) involve firearms, 5) involve personal injuries, and 6) etc.?

Alternatively of course, we can gather at the saloon, saddle up our hosses, load our six-shooters, and make sure we all have hangman's nooses at the ready. Oh, and have copies of The Ox-Bow Incident loaded into our saddle-mounted DVD players, for good measure. Wink

Thanks Herb, I'm not at all outraged(sorry I gave that impression)I just hate a thief.
As a PI i've been involved in simular cases where nothing gets done by the police
A few years ago my friend Dave Kirby's Guitar was stolen from the Texas Hall of Fame in Brady. I volunteered my service. I found the guitar, told the police who had it, and they still couldn't find it. (Stealing isn't very high on thier priorty list.}
Not until the suspect's grandmother had seen the guitar in her closet and remembered seeing it on TV was it recovered. The kid was 17. I'm not sure what happened to him but I think he got probation.

Why not buy it with pay pal and then dispute the charge. That way you secure the guitar and you don't have to rely on a slow reacting PD. You will win the dispute.

I think I remember reading Bobbe's post here on the forum when this guitar was stolen. I think it was taken from a loading dock at Bobbe's store. This post would be in archives of the forum I would think and could be used as support for Bobbe's claim that the guitar was stolen. All this is from the memory of a 70 year old so I could well be confusing it with some other event. Bobbe, I hope you get your guitar back. Please let us know the outcome.

The listing has ended/been removed. Hopefully with the seller's contact info provided to Bobbe for the law enforcement investigation, it has been locked down and will be sorted out and returned to him.

That's about the prettiest Crossover I've ever seen! Early one too! '67? Wood wraparound changers. The slotted rods are early too. The necks kinda have a Fingertip shape to them
Nice guitar!

Fellow forumites, I thank you all.
The guitar is being returned to me by the very nice person that has it listed on Ebay.
His name is Jeffery Tempelton. He lists things on ebay often and is a very nice person, very honest as is proven by how he is handeling this situation.
And he called me, I didn't have to call him.
I just wish everyone were as honest and easy to deal with as he is.
I think Richard Vick informed him of my plight, so I also thank Richard wholehartedly as I do you all.
Jeffrey Templeton, A good honest person.

Bobbe Seymour, #7140 is a comin' home.

Great news Bobbe! I bet you make sure that your loading bay at the back is covered at all times now. It is a bit secluded there.

The eBay system, while not perfect, does allow for contact to be made with sellers and in this case has worked a treat because the seller was 100% genuine.

No Bobbe, I didnt notify him as I didnt want to hinder any effort you were making after I gave you his name and phone number. I did however make an offer on one of his items last week (unrelated to music)to be able to get his contact info. which is what I gave you. As luck would have it, he accepted my low offer, so we did have to correspond by email for that but nothing was mentioned about your Steel.
He did call me today after you and he had worked out the return of the steel and said someone else had notified him about the steel and that he had called you to work it out. He put 2 and 2 together since I had requested his contact info. and offered to refund the money on the item I purchased. He is a stand up guy, as you said, to have offered that, even though I will go through with the purchase. Glad all is well and hope he can recover his costs.

Yes, this seller IS 100% the best! His name is Jeffery Tempelton in Hudson Mi.

We also have a very good idea now how this entire escapade took place and who the guilty parties are. (more than one)

RC, again, I still thank you! You are a "stand up guy" too!

I really am impressed by all the help and concern exibited by all you forum friends, everyone of you are dear to my heart.

Bless you all.

This is the second steel that I've seen recovered with the help of this forum. The other was a Sho-Bud that forumite Alex Piazza lost when our uhaul was stolen in San Francisco.

If anyone sees a white Guyatone lap steel with a Sustainiac pickup installed (making it a three-pickup steel), let me know.
