| I'm looking for a copy of and instrumental album from the late 60's or early 70's of Bill Andersons Po Folks Band. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the album. Sonny Garish on steel, and I'm not sure of the guitar player, perhaps Greg Gailbrath. Anyway, I would love to have a copy of this if anyone still has it on vinyl. Thanks in advance, Cliff |

| I believe it is "Po'Folks Band". Bill Anderson named the group after one of his early hits with the same title. |

I saw the Po'Boys in 1972/3 in London, UK. Three of the band names that spring to mind were Sonny Garrish (pedal steel) Wayne Gray (lead guitar) and Jimmy Gately (fiddle).

Thanks everyone for the response. That is the album, I distinctly remember the picture. Now, does anyone have a copy and the capability to get it to CD? I would love to have a copy of this, just can't find it anywhere. Again, thanks for all your help.

Still easily available in the LP format (for $15-$20), "That Casual Country Feeling" was their second album, and was released in 1971 (you can tell by all the hair  )
The same economic distress a lot of people are feeling now was first experienced by dust-bowl farmers in the '30s, and by barbers in the late '60s and early '70s.

I think the lead guitarist on the first couple Po' Boys albums was Jim Lance. But the memories grow dim...

Casual Country Feeling was the bands 3rd lp, the 2nd lp was entitled The Po' Boys - Pick Again, and was released in 1967 and their final lp was entitled The Rich Sounds of Bill Anderson's Po' Boys, released in 1973.
Herb: Memory isn't that bad yet!. Jim Lance was their guitar player on the first 2 lp's - Bill Anderson Presents(1966) and Pick Again(1967).
Steve Chapman was the bands guitar player on the 3rd lp - Casual Country Feeling(1971) and Greg Galbtaith on The Rich Sounds(1973)
Weldon Myrick was their steel player on the first lp and Sonny Garrish on the last three.

| My apologies, as usual Donny you are correct. A few years ago however I remember Bill Anderson introducing the band on the Opry as the "Po' Folks Band", possibly because at the time he featured Donna Hammett on steel and the term "Boy" was certainly not applicable. |

| Actually, the band was called "po folks" by at least '78 or '79. I remember doing a few shows with them while with D&S during that time period. Jack Smith was playing steel with them at that point. |

I still like the "everybody dress alike" look. It doesn't have to be a Nudie/sequins suit, just everyone looking neat. Grunge just don't get it!!!!!!

Barry,
Those were our personal clothes on the album cover.....you can almost smell the double-knit! At the time we still wore uniforms on stage, some of them with rhinestones. Bill also insisted that we wear suits and ties anytime we had to fly to a date, which was kind of a drag the time we went to Holland for a one-nighter. |
