Blue lacquer body(faded to green)w/one of a kind wood inlay w/pearl purfling. Gloss black wood necks outlined w/white pinstripe, white fret marker Emmons f/b's, bolt-on changers, original single coil p/u's w/tone circuit.
I bought this guitar from Bruce Zumsteg in '92 and re-sold it to and restored it for Denny Hemingson(steel guitarist for Tim McGraw). History on this particular instrument is that it was originally owned by John Hughey(as told to me by Bruce, later confirmed w/John by Denny).
Setup is 10x5, original long silver knee levers(no vertical, extra is C6 lkl). Original pedal rack was wood bar-student style w/old wide pedals; swapped out for new Emmons 10 pedal p/p rack w/silver LeGrande pedals at time of restoration.
Comes w/'94 Carlo Custom Road Case in decent condition, w/legbag.
Denny used this guitar w/Tim for several years after restoration, then retired it to his music room.
I know that my description of this guitar may arouse some curiosity so Denny has sent me pics that I'll provide to any seriously interested parties.
$3250.00 + shipping in lower 48, no trades.
This is a one-of-a-kind Emmons p/p, no tricks & not a parts guitar. Contact me via email @ mwillsteel@comcast.net or phone @ 615-446-5952.
thanks,

Mike,
The restore is almost done. I'm waiting for a few knee lever stops and a cross-shaft, before I can finish rodding her up. I did a test run w/ pedals A, B and E-Eb lever hooked up though, and it plays great. I took my time getting the changers all squared up and now it "rings like a bell". Target date is this weekend or next.
Thx for your help and the killer re-mica job.
Tony
p.s. If you email me some pix of that Emmons you're trying to sell, I'll post'em for ya. |

Could this be the guitar Hughey is pictured with on the back of Dickie Bett's "Highway Call" LP? My copy is in storage but I seem to remember it was a green lacquer guitar. "Highway Call" would have been released in the early '70's. |

I never have cared for the looks of those solid black necks Emmons sometimes used back in the 60's & 70's. Was this because of the kind of wood they were using. |

Oh, my - the steel John used on "Highway Call". Too bad I was asleep at the switch when this came up. Cool historical piece. Whoever got it - enjoy. |

Dave Mudgett, It gets even worse. There is a good chance this is also the "Phases & Stages” guitar. Both "Highway Call" and Willie Nelson's masterpiece, "Phases & Stages" were both recorded in 1974. "Highway Call" was recorded at Capricorn studios in Macon, Georgia and “Phases & Stages” at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. As we all know, “Phases & Stages” was a groundbreaking concept LP and John Hughey played a major role in the success of the sound and story of this record. Hughey’s steel echoes Willie’s lyrics at every turn – the mark of a master musician. I agree with you that this could be a historical guitar – museum quality. |

I believe the guitar you fellows are referring to is NOT the one I just sold. If you'll look closely at Danny Bates' post, you'll see that the one pictured is a black mica w/black wood necks. That particular guitar is now owned by someone else, and had the E9 changed to a metal neck, I believe.
Funny though, it still sounds like John, metal neck notwithstanding
