I'm considering buying a set of practise headphones and I want to power them without my big guitar amp line out.
Can this be done with the small battery powered headphone amps such as the Vox 30 or ??
Any suggestions to brands, etc appreciated. Bill. |

I use Vox DA5 and I like it. But if you have low-efficinecy headphones, you can't crank it too much. Maybe that's a good thing. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

Any of the Line6 PODs make excellent headphone amps. My favorite headphone amp remains the TEAC MP3 guitar trainer: you can play along with whatever tune is loaded, and move tempo or pitch to your liking. But you generally want to bypass all the guitar effects for steel use.

I use a Korg Pandora Toneworks PX4D. Simular to the Pod. It has a tuner, bass, drums and several amp and speaker combinations. On and on. _________________ Carter S-12U, Sho-Bud LGD (80's), Fender Jazz King, Korg Pandora Toneworks PX4D, Modulus Q6, Ampeg B5R, Lapstick Travel Guitar mod to lapsteel |

The Pocket Pods make great headphone amps. I use it with Bose headphones. The Pod has an mp3 in jack so I plug an iPOD in for practicing. My wife loves it. |

The good thing about using a POD or other amp/speaker simulator is that you can make it sound realistic by using the amp and speaker sims, reverb, etc. I use the Twin amp and 15" speaker sims. After the POD I go into a small Behringer mixer, so I can play along with CDs or radio. The headphones then come out of the mixer phone jack. |
