I think Morrell steels were made that way?
Does anyone else do this?
Either as a mod to existing or made specificially to do this.
Or, has anyone made brackets to attach one to the legs of a pedal steel?
Since I play pedal steel and would like to use my lapsteel for just a couple of songs, I could...duh, just play it on my lap..but it looks a bit odd when the pedal steel is blocking the view of what you're doing.

Interesting idea, maybe some kind of pull out / flip up shelf or bracket mounted to the under carriage of the steel? That would allow the use of most any model lap steel.

It's not very elegant, but I've done it with a folded beach towel on top of the PSG strings, and laid the lap steel on top of that. Used the same cord & volume pedal.

Steve, are they listed on their website? I couldn't find them.
I'm thinking maybe four little skinny legs with rubber feet might work to sit on top of the ten string neck, but also a couple of brackets to make a single necked PSG look like a double neck might be cool too.

I don't have much room. I'm always laying lap steels on top of a pedal steel. On one occasion I laid a Guyatone D10 on top of my Sho-Bud; there was an earthquake and the Guyatone fell onto the concrete floor. It took me three weekends to fix it and refinish it. I don't do that any more. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Didn't someone a few years back make a DOBRO affects unit, in the shape of a FryPan or what have you, that simply fit over the first neck and gave a great pedal sounding DOBRO SOUND?

Never saw it but that's the way it was explained to me.

In another discussion a month or so ago, forum member William Steward mentioned the Cougar Guitar "Add-A Neck" lapsteel, designed to hook on to the back of a single neck pedal steel. It attached to the main neck with two brackets. Unfortunately, the manufacturer, Freeman Cowgar, died a few years ago. William has Cougar's demo photos as well as the unassembled pieces from the the guitar that Mr. Cowgar was building for him.

Noel Anstead...maker of the Anapeg pedal steels...a few years ago built a Lap Steel for Kenny Kitching....attached a couple of slide out rails to his Pedal Steel....when the Lap is sitting on the rails......it looks for all the world like a Triple Neck Pedal Steel Guitar !!!

Try it out first. I have one of those and it sounds nothing like my Dobro. Shocked

Just saw a video of Martina McBride with PF. Paul has an MSA Super Slide siting on the C neck of a D10. Simple setup.
The back of the Superslide has a soft felt pad and the neck is slightly relieved so as to not touch the C neck strings.

Bobbe Seymour's demo looks good too.
