Ha. Dave Ha.Ray: Went to Sacramento this weekend and saw Bobby and Lost Weekend play, great stuff. Looking forward to it again.Had a great time at Western Swing Society Hall of Frame Festival. Meet so many great steelers there couldnt keep all the names straight, still cannt. I was like a kid in a candy store, even at my age.All the people that played there were the nicest group people I have meet in along time. See you all soon.

Lost Weekend has CD's available everywhere they play. I bought 2 in Sacramento and they are well worth the money.

They play well together and are all very good musicians. A "MUST SEE" show. I can't understand why they haven't made Austin City Limits or other similar venues. They are like a sleeping giant.

The leader of Lost Weekend, Don Burnham, is a good pal of mine and I will attest to the swinging sounds of LW. Hey, before Bobby Black took the steel chair, it was Vance Terry. That is a pretty good pedigree for a western swing band.

Anyway, I'd like this opportunity to once again comment on Bobby's most recent recording The Steel Guitar of Bobby Black. He's characteristically very embarrassed whenever I talk about this album, but IMHO it's one of the best, most lyrical and melodic steel guitar recordings I've ever heard. It's an album that I believe changed the way I approach soloing. It's that heavy, trust me.

Very little E9 on this album, and what there is isn't country at all. Mostly this is an album of old pop standards and Hawaiian. But the music is so exquisite it should be a part of everyone's music library.

Herb, Bobby was playing what I understand, to be a new guitar. It is a single 10, no pedals, stand up. I don't know who made it, but the word I got thru Dean Rankin was that it was made by a conventional guitar shop.

Thanks for the tip on his recording. Bobby is truly a master and quite a gentleman. After the show, he reflected on Joaquin's influence on him after another player commented on some profound similarities in their playing. But who couldn't help but be influenced by him.

It is kind of tricky to find. It not really in a business district. If I remember correctly it is in a residential area.
