if you don't ever service them, that is. The capasitors are good for about 20 years, so send your amps to Ken Fox and let him do his mojo on them--replacing those worn out caps and worn out components. He can specifically "voice" your amp for steel and or 6 string guitar. Yes if you have a twin reverb type amp, he can voice one channel for your tele and the other channel for steel---DOUBLE DUTY!!
When Ken is done "laying thy hands upon thy amp", then call Rick Johnson and get him to put your amp chassis in a head cabinet, and your speakers in extension cabs, so you can beat the weight issue. My twin in a head cab only weighs 6 lbs more than a Nashville 112---well worth it to me for the tube tone. Wake up America!!
So my thanx to both Ken Fox and Rick Johnson. I get compliments on my great tone and good looking rig all the time.
Anyone that would like to post pics of their Rick Johnson and /or Ken Fox amp, jump in here.

Here's some Rick Johnson cabs for those who like the traditional black/silver cabs.

I've been playing Fender amps since 1965, except for a few years with a Vegas. I personally didn't like the Vegas. Sounded "sterile" to me. I have never had a Fender fail me! Just get them serviced every decade or so. I was extremely happy to Find a Fender Quad chassis. My tech turned it into a steel friendly and guitar friendly amp. Rick Johnson turned it into a beauty! I currently have 7 Fenders, and two Dr. Z's.

Sure, I'll jump in. The only difference you can "see" is the single Eminence 15 speaker, and a new face plate. Ken Fox worked his MOJO, and this bad boy sounds FANTASTIC! Hope Rick is still around when my back gives out! LOL!
Plan on keeping my FSK, but MAN, those tubes in the TWIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our guitar player is a Fender Deluxe man, and he just keeps freakin' out every time I use this amp!

LOL!!!!!!!!!! Good one, James!
I gotta say, it lost about 20 lbs when I took out the 2 - EVM 12S and put in the Eminence 15. From my perspective, this Twin is LITE! I'll have to find a smiling avatar! _________________ Zumsteel 12 Universal

Naw Mike, I like skitzoid man. Awe the King Crimson Days. Interesting time in my life. LOL!!
Yes a pair of EV12L's are awesome, but you will think someone nailed your amp to the floor when you try to go home. I had a Super Twin with a pair of 12L's and it weighed 110 lbs. Awesome tone. |
