Although a trained actor, he will probably be remembered as the goofy poet on "Laugh In".

He had numerous acting rolls. Mr.Gibson was one week shy of his 74th birthday.

Steel Guitar Tie In:
In Robert Altman's 1975 film "Nashville", Henry play an overbearing country singing star. In the opening scene he is in a recording session. Among the musicians are Jeff Newman, on banjo, and Lloyd Green, Pedal Steel.

The song "Keep A'Going" on the sound-track has a good (almost archetypal) Nashville-style steel lead-break in it. Not sure who played it, but I always thought Weldon Myrick was a prime suspect. Somewhere I have the sound-track on vinyl.

I sure enjoyed the film, and appreciated the steel-guitar in that song in particular because I was just starting with my Marlen D10 about 1976. Henry Gibson's character was well-played, too. Not a very sympathetic character, but the acting was good.

She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being.

Check an old episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" with H.G. for an earlier appearance of those "Keep A-Goin'" lyrics.

Students of Theatre get a small grin when they say his name three times fast. ("HenryGibsonHenryGibsonHenrikIbsen")
