Sad to report that my friend, Bob Allen, died earlier this week. Bob had just returned from St. Louis and we all had enjoyed his piano playing talents in the EXCEL room during Scotty's Steel Guitar Convention. Bob will be missed by all who knew this kind and talented friend and musician. He delighted everyone who visited us in the EXCEL demo room, and especially me. As Ron Elliott says, "... wish I could hug him one more time".
Rest in peace my friend. Play your music heavenly pretty now for the best audience.
Condolences to your wonderful family.

I usually am not at a loss for words, but when someone as neat as Bob Allen just suddenly one day is not there, makes you realize how special each and every day that we are permitted to be here is, especially in our business where all of the community is focused on the same goals music, cammaraderie (spelling?), and, creating together. So call a friend, or better yet someone you haven't seen or talked to in a very long time, 'cause one day you'll call and the line will be empty on the other end..... |

My friend Billy Carr informed me of this when I spoke to him the other day....I was shocked, to say the least....Bob was a great man...loved playing the keys.....and loved steel guitar, too. Thoughts and prayers for his family....He will be missed by all of us.....HAL _________________ HAL...Excel D-10 w/ 8 & 5. Laurie and I listened to him for awhile in the Excel room. He was a great keyboard man; really had a feel for the proper way to back up a steel guitartst. We send our condolences to his family and friends. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005
