| Is there anyone out ther that still plays ,An ,MCI,what i need to know is the CORRECT thread up on both necks,What holes the rods go in ,the Changer end,also the CORRECT hole s for the Bell Cranks,this guitar just dont play right,So PlEASE if any one has ,a pretty much fatory thredup ,please ,E Mail it to me at(steelmanplayer@yahoo.com)Thanks,Ray White ,Byron Ga. |

Raymond,
I just recently setup an EMCI using the info in the link Scott listed. I followed the rod/changer chart in the manual and couldn't be happier!
I used plastic wire ties to hold the rods in place.
I also have the good fortune of having John Lazarus' most excellent expertise just minutes away  .
Killer guitars!

Steve, I've got my MCI setup where I don't have to use those O rings or ties. Mine is an MCI but has metal frame. That is the only drawback to these guitars. They play great and have killer tone. I do have to be careful when changes strings or the rods will come out.

The MCI manual is about the middle of the page. This is a very valuble information source and I would like to thank Carter for the link . I have used it on most every steel I set up and make a chart with all the pulls as I always seem to have to alter 1 or 2 pulls.
Be sure and check all the info. It is very helpfull .

Raymond,
I sent you an email with the pdf file attached.
Make sure you understand the charts and the orientation of the holes, pull bars, etc. It's easy to get things reversed when working with the guitar upside down and the instructions right side up....or verse visa.....or any combination of the five.
Once you get the correct prospective of everything, it's not only easy, but fun too, and you'll learn a lot about your guitar. These guitars are quite easy to work on and feel spectacular when setup correctly.
Ask questions! Lots of help here on the forum.

Hey Steve, I had to get home and turn my guitar upside down to see. The knee levers have stops that keep them from going backwards so the rods have very little play in them. Mine is the welded frame MCI and the stops are on the end of the cross bars opposite the nut that removes the cross bars.
MCI's are very under rated guitars in my book. I've owned three of them and they all sounded great. I always thought Buddy and Ron sounded as good or better on their MCI's than any guitar they played. This is the first welded frame I've ever owned and I

| I also own a welded frame EMCI. You can't beat it with a stick. I agree that Buddy and Ron had as great a tone on the EMCI as any guitar they ever played.Jody |
