I'm 56 years old, have been a poor but loyal student of this instrument since 1963. Training and study was scattershot.
After these 4 days I know what my plan of attack is... That, folks is priceless.
And no it's not gonna be throw the dammed thing in the lake, after hearing Tyler Hall play. 22 years old he is? Maybe they better keep me clear of lakes for a while...
The stack of new CD's is about a foot high. Got a Pod XT and other toys to mask my clams and forays into the unknown.
Joe Wright is a genius. Van Halen? Of all things!
4 steelers playin' Together Again at the same time. I about cried and cheered at the same time at the ending.
Walter Stettner squared me away about Charlie Pride and Lloyd Green. I had never made the connection before.
I got to sing on stage.

Yes Sir Ray, Tyler Hall is a Very talented Young man  Great to see you got to attend and enjoy the convention. And Yes Joe Wright is a MASTER OF THE pedal Steel Guitar.  I set in on his seminar in Branson this Summer.

I'm really glad you threw that steel into the water, you pick way too good for me to try to keep up with.

BTW, only a few folks enjoyed my bevDeJour which allowed me the opportunity for more frequent tipping of the bottle, more for me David Wright suggested my oak aged single malt tasted like a an alligator's...eh, well, I best not repeat what he suggested. I'm sending David a book on Acquired Tastes. haha

If you get a chance, try "Isle of JURA" malt 21 year old.......you'll believe you're in Scotland,yummy!

I'm willing to provide you with the Jura 21 if you'll tell me where that lake is. Submerged steel guitars make excellent concealment structure and largemouth bass habitat!
When I caught an 8 pounder last year, a guy at the boat ramp asked where I got it, and I told him "off the changer end of a Sho-Bud Crossover, in about 6 foot of water."
He looked puzzled. Go figure.

| Herb, I believe the lake in question is located somewhere between Sunshine and Highland, Maryland, right of Brighton Dam Road. Curry Coster will have to confirm this, he is the fellow pic'd by the lake. Curry is one fine steeler too!!!! Meanwhile, please forward me jeroboam filled with Jura 21. I will have an IV ready to go..... |

I'm not sure what Jeroboam, the first king of the Northern tribes of Israel after the death of Solomon, has to do with a fine scotch whiskey , and surely you've noticed I didn't specify any exact quantity in my post. But right now I'm enjoying an Old Fashioned glass with two fingers of Jura 16, of which I will gladly share with you the moment you walk through the portals of my humble Texas ranchito, to be greeted with open arms and a glint in my aged eyes.

But of course I did which is why I requested a small sized bottle. Jura 16 might fare a tad better from the interior of a small snifter, warming up ever so slightly from the palm of your hand. Unless of course, you're a pick blocker An old fashion glass may be more suited for Slivovitz.

| Ben, your admiration is taking the first step regardless of your Joysee background. Unfortunately, I haven’t tabbed out any guidelines which may lead you down an enlightened, single malt path, I can only suggest that you do some networking with your local spirit shop. Maybe they offer tastings? Check out their inventory, maybe you’ll find a 30 year old Springbank hanging out somewhere. Enjoying a good single malt scotch is a learning experience, just like brewing and enjoying the perfect cup of coffee, black w/no sugar. Yepper, I like my French press and do the stove top peculator on weekends. |
