Well - I got this Fender FS52 in trade and it had a flaw in the fretboard where the chrome had a flake missing - Here's what I did to it using my digitally created faux shell overlay material - I just used plain white dots for the markers - It will be listed for sale and/or trade in the appropriate forum section - I applied this with removable PSA so it can be removed should someone decide to do so - It's kinda tough to take a good photo so I did the best I could - Thanks for looking - Feel free to ask questions - DB

That's much cooler looking than the mirrored finish originally on that fretboard. Good job!

Thanks very much for the compliments guys, they are appreciated Very Happy - I'm going to start offering sheets of this stuff for sale soon with either removable or permanent adhesive - If you want a small sample swatch, the swatch will be on white cardstock, haven't had time to get any black plexiglass, send a self-addressed, stamped, envelope with a note requesting a sample to:

D. Brooker
55858 - 260th Ave.,
Chariton, IA 50049

Eventually I will have samples on a webpage showing the blue, green, red and gold colors that will be available.

Hey Dennis, (like the name) Can you create a simulated flame? Love the faux on the white, how would that look on aluminum? Good hey?

Dennis, I mean not me the other Dennis - Yes, I could simulate flame as well - But since everyone's idea of flame is a little different it would help me if you could find a pic or photo of flame that you like - I think it would look pretty hot on aluminum - DB

Hey Dennis, I'm talking about the old yellow. orange and blues. Street rod flames that burn when you look at them.
Maybe even todays shadow type flames on the more modern side, They'er allmost not there with a blend of transparent tones? Confused

What do you think Dennis? Very Happy Let me know. Dennis.

Is it possible to wrap an entire lap steel body in that stuff? Like the old pearloid or MOTS Supros and Magnatones.

Dennis Brown - I can do just about whatever you want - just need to see a pic or photo of a style that you prefer and I'd be glad to work up a sample -

Mitch - You can do as you like with the material but I'll mention that the sheet size is 8" x 10" so you'll have to plan for some dividing lines like a mosaic or reptile scales or butt the pieces up nice and tight -

Mr. Boards - I did this as an example for the reason I mentioned and have gotten more than a few compliments on several forums - I can also see your point and did not take it as a slam in any way at all - After giving the situation a LOT of thought I'm going to sell the material in sheets right away and people can do whatever they want to with it - On a 2nd note (get the pun) if they want me to make a fretboard then I will quote them a price on that as well -

Keep those compliments and questions coming Very Happy - DB
