Last night I had the opportunity to hear a new cd release from Gene Watson on Eddie Stubbs show after the Tuesday night Opry. The name of Genes' new disc is called "The Taste of Truth". Friends if you love Traditional Country Music? Then this disc is for you! The cuts I heard played totally blew me away.On the disc he has a couple of duets with Trace Adkins and Rhonda Vincent. Folks this disc has definitely put the Country back in Country Music! Gene said it can be purchased at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop, Amazon.com, Best Buy and other retail outlets.Plus Gene mentioned the fact that purchased for down load at itunes.com. You won't be dissappointed.

That sounds good. We need a roots resurgence for country music kinda like what happened in the late 80's early 90's. And get away from this pop stuff. For those pop country lovers, I am not knocking it, I just think pop counrty is not country. Country needs to be country and pop needs to be pop. All of this crossing over destroys the individuality and honor of each particular genre.

Just my opinion.

I will say however, that a little crossover of the southern rock/blues into country is a good thing if applied appropriately. Otherwise is would get dull at times.

I guess all in all it's just depends on the individual but for me I like country music mostly between the years of 1950 to prabrably about 1994. But there always seems to be a jewel album that will surface from time to time. Kind of Alan Jackson's infuences album. And then you've always got Dale Watson to listen to. (I give props to Ricky D.)

They may can keep real country out of the mainstream but they cant keep it from everywhere else.

It's like George Strait's new song,"Living For The Night". I heard that the song is at the top of both Coutry and Pop charts. I hope and pray that George is not changing direction. I mean he has had some better material out there before. His last disc I felt wasn't his best. I think there were a couple of songs that really like on it. And I am George Strait fan. But on the oter hand, I Gene Watson, I always have. And when I heard the disc on Stubbs' show the other night, I was totally blown away by it. To me there wasn't a bad song on it.(in my opinion) It country to the nth degree. It sounded more like he did back in the 80's. Like the cream rising to the top.
