1928 National Tricone Style 2 squareneck, superb condition, rose engraving, extra roses on coverplate (s/n 5xx.) I am the second owner in 81 years (not including Byron Berline's Double Fiddle Shop, Guthrie OK.) OHSC + a sheaf of vintage instructional material. Special period features: three clusters of roses engraved on cover plate (not just a single one on the bridge cover); "stud" tailpiece for loop- or ball-end strings--these were found only on the first few hundred instruments made.

New cones from National in San Luis Obispo. No headstock decal; headstock may have been refinished many years ago. (On the other hand, Don Young of National Reso-Phonic says oversights like no decal were known to happen.) One replaced tuner button. Otherwise excellent condition.

For Forum members only: $4000. No trades. Will be higher should it ever need to go to other marketplaces. (I'm only selling because I now have the very rare and early s/n 209, seen in my avatar.) I'd prefer a local sale, but I won't absolutely rule out shipping--except outside the USA and Canada.

If interested, email (weissenben(AT)earthlink[dot]net) rather than post.

Hi Ben - It looks like it has a nut extender on it. Would that have been original? Is the bone nut too short?

Bone nut's (original under there, I think) shorter than I like. (Also a trait of about every original Weissenborn nut I've ever encountered. I just want a tinch more height--not really volume or string tension.)

Never mind this for a while--I'm in the hospital and won't be packing and shipping for at least a few days.

Yes, although I played it the other day (A-B'd with the '27 s/n 209; this one wins by a nose.) I'm sure Dr. Freud would agree that that's why I haven't bumped it ttt ^^^ like I just did with my ZB D-11.

But yeah, still here, and the idea is to sell one, keep one.
