What with all the carping about today's artists and the music that's making the playlists these days, I was moved my this tune I heard today. I don't listen to a lot of contemporary country radio, but I had it on while doing some chores.
Very moving song. Not full of steel, but a fair amount and nicely done. Finely written song..great message.
I'm sure many of you are familiar with it, but for those that aren't, It's called "All I Ask For Anymore". You can search youtube for the title and artist. Download the one with just the karaoke style lyrics. The Opry video is erratic. [I don't mind posting a link, but I'm not sure about what legal issues are involved with posting an artists video.]
I've been liking Trace's music for quite awhile now. You could play his stuff all night in the clubs. Everything from ballad mellow to butt kickin'.
Maybe some of you will want to download and listen to this great song if you haven't already. |

I agree that is a grest song. Trace also does one called "The Rest of Mine" and it's probably one of the best love songs I ever heard. Trace is a good singer and there is a lot of steel in that one. |

I've played along with "The Rest of Mine" a few times, and there's also "This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing" which features steel all over it.

Brett, I really like "Thinkin' Thing"..from the first time I heard it years ago. Do you know who did the great steel guitar work on it?
I learned it long time ago, but none of the bands I play with ever do it. Still hope to get a chance to play it out someday. |

I opened for him when he was just coming out. He didn't know if he was going to be able to make it big time in Nashville. He was very humble. Funny looking back at it because there was no doubt when you heard him. Super nice guy. |

If he could just leave the "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "Badonkadonk" tripe alone, he could have a great career.... he seems to get (and take) bad advice sometimes. Throw it at the wall and whatever sticks, I guess. ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

I disagree. I think those tunes are entertaining. I believe he does a good mix of stuff from country to the edge of rock. Music doesn't have to make a serious statement all the time. Sometimes it's just fun. Dance crowds like all of his music.
No, it's not all pure country....what is? But the edgy stuff is pretty doggone good in my opinion. I've not heard anything by him that I didn't like. Different strokes and all that, 'ya know ![Question](images/smiles/icon_question.gif) |

I like that guy too. He seems like a cool dude and his music is a lot of fun with some surprizes to it. ( think of Roger Miller whistling, sugar is sweet and so is maple surple) I betcha You would find Trace in the crowd at a Stones concert or a Randy Travis concert and he would enjoy both just as much. |
