Joe it probably wouldn't be a great combo as they are both preamps !! You would need to change all the settings in the Profex to be effects only for it to be any good I would say... don't know of anyone mentioning using both together.
I personally use a TC M300 effects unit with my Rev (on Brads recommendation) and it is very good. _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

Agreed.
The Profex II isnt' really compatible with the Rev, and for a couple of reasons. First off, it doesn't really offer the routing topology to get your reverb and delay in "parallel" or side by side. In theory, you could place it after the Rev, but then you're taking an expensive analog/tube signal path and then subjecting it to a much lower fidelity, low resolution digital signal path and processing. Kind of self-defeating for the Rev. The Profex is a real cool and very flexible unit, and honestly sounds decent, but it's old-school, lo-fi digital and would take away from the signal quality of the Rev if you were to place it in series.
Now, if you simply want reverb by itself or delay by itself, then you can use the Profex in the Rev's loop, and that would work well most likely. Problem comes in when you want more than one effect at a time.
The basic rule with the Rev's parallel loop is that your effects unit MUST be set at 100% effect only with ZERO dry signal coming out of it. This is important or else you can ad some pretty nasty sounding artifacts to the Rev's sound.
Best,
Brad |
