One owner, 1950-ish Rickenbacker double-8 steel guitar, post war 1.25 inch pickups. Guitar is in excellent condition. Has never been hocked, or damaged. Chrome is all highly polished, no tarnish, flaking or rust. Three extendable legs, solid, no shaking, great for sitting or standing.
Has both volume & tone knobs with neck selector toggle switch. String thro' the body with chrome tail piece.
Factory hardshell case, is solid, all hinges and latches work. Small piece of 'trim' on case is missing but does not adversely affect security or appearance.
This guitar has been owned since new by one professional steel guitarist, played only in Oregon, once on television and once in a recording studio.
I'm seeking $1,500 cash for this wonderful musical instrument. Pix are on eBay. First come first served.

You guys that once upon a time were highly interested in Richenbacker double-8, DW-16's, aren't interested now 'cause you know my backside is up against fire with my lil' wife, right?

You all are just wantin' me to be singed really bad.

I only want to sell it 'cause I need the bucks to be put back in the family savings and to quiet down my lil' wife's vocal protestations over having purchased the two recent Rickenbachers that were my very last guitar purachases.

I own a blonde version, i've had it for a few weeks now. If I had not gotten that one i'd be buying Rays!

These are amazing guitars and can be hard to find. I've owned several Fender dual pros, And these are similar...but BETTER IMO. Any of you guys looking for a quality double 8 will not be disappointed. The workmanship/sound is tough to beat.

I bought one exactly like Ray's a few weeks ago. I love it and don't plan on ever selling. I was going to buy a fender but like the tone of the DW 16 better.

I appreciate your kind words about this guitar.

You are 100% correct! This is an extremely fine g'tar and all metal parts are tarnish, rust free, including the "ARM RESTS(??)" over the pickups.

    A fabulous g'tar and a real work-horse.

Ray, you know you don't want to sell it, you want to keep it. Keep the guitar and sell the wife instead. Very Happy

Or just tell her that Alan Brookes says it's quite normal to have as many steel guitars as you have, and you'll leave them to her in your will, so she'll have an investment for the future. Winking Winking Winking

I hate to see someone part with an instrument he's loved and cared for all these years. Sad

The pictures are still there on eBay. You just have to use the Advanced Search, and search over Completed Items.

    It's a nice guitar. I wish I had $1,500 to spare. Sad

Alan......many thanks to you for your thot's on 'the wife' vs. 'the g'tar'.

I've already used the "investment" strategy and pointed out to the little lady that the WILL.....will be her foundation for all sorts of increasing value and presteige........as a result of my long-range planning for her security.

THANKS VERY MUCH for uploading the photo's on this SGF page. VERY NICE of you, to be sure.

The wife just approved my recent acquisition of two late 1960's Rickenbackers, one a Jerry Byrd single neck model; the other, a double neck long scale of the same model design.

Yes, I do hate to get rid of any of my musical instruments. I let my first Gibson sgl-6, and matching amp-1948, get away from as I did with my 1950's triple-8 Fender and 4x10's Bassman amp.

But I did promise her I'd sell 'something' when she let me get the two other recent purchases, and, she did suggest and book all aspects of our trip to St.Louis in September. So, I must remain honest and truthful........or good fortunate might not again fall upon me...

That "something" could be a tone bar. Very Happy

(I hope she doesn't read the Forum or she'll be after me with a frying pan, and NOT the sort you play. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! )

This wonderful guitar has been sold.....

This it only the third guitar that I've ever parted company with. I've regreted selling my Gibson -150 model; my triple-8 Fender and NOW...my dbl.-8 Ric.

I know this one will be in good hands in Hawaii so the stress level has been reduced somewhat. And of course, the wife has calmed down a little and that's what it's all about right?
