During the last few weeks my Nashville 112 developed a very pronouced hum when the reverb was turned up to 3 or 4. This was a low hum that built in volume so that you had to turn the reverb off to use the amp. I called Peavey this morning to talk to Mike Brown but he was away from his desk, so they put me through to a tech. After describing the problem to him, he told me to take the reverb pan out of the bag, and put two strips of weather stripping the length of the pan on top and that should cure this particular problem. Sure enough, I just did that, and it fixed this particular hum. I still experience a slight bit of reverb hum that didn't happen with the Nash. 1000, but it isn't significant. Maybe others have had the same problem, and this is sure a simple fix. Thanks again to Peavey. Customer service second to none

It would be nice if all mfg. had a repair dept like Peavey. I have got to the point that any Peavey repairs go to Peavey and no one else.
Those guys rock ! Very Happy

I have had GREAT luck with Peavey for around 30 yrs now. I had a problem with a session 500, they sent me power transistors that I was able to put in myuself, it is still working great.
I finally had another problem. One of our Nash.1000's just went silent?? the light stayed on and the line out Low HZ still worked. I called Peavey they suggested trying a couple things that did not work. So I pulled it from the chassis and sent it in. I am sure they will fix it and fix it right.
Just wondering if anyone else has had that problem? We have two 1000's and this is the first problem in 6 yrs now.
Thanks,
Neil

What do you mean weather stripping? Foam? Metal? Are you shielding the tank electronically? I don't understand.

Yes, what kind of weather stripping?
Can you find a photo?

I suspect it's the tape type...

My NV112 occasionally has reverb hum as described, but only in settings above 50%.

Mark and Joey, Yes, what I used is just like the picture that Joey used. Sounds too simple doesn't it. I didn't expect the hum to be gone when I turned the amp back on but it was. This particular hum was very low pitched and built over about 30 seconds Sounded like a type of feedack which I guess it was. I don't know why it suddenly occured when I've had the amp for about four years. Anyway, it's fixed now.

I agree Mike Brown and Peavey's repair department do a great job...always fixed any amp problems I've had.
Now I may need to send one of my 112's to Peavey to fix a hum problem that won't go away. Like George, I've had minor reverb hum too which goes away when the reverb is turned off. However, the hum I'm referring to occurs without an instrument plugged in and is much louder and annoying--won't permit use for recording. I've tried different outlets in my home and other buildings w/ dimmer switches off, I've tried using a Hum Eliminator--nothing fixes it. Guess I'm going to have to call Mike to get it fixed. Just curious, if 2 strips of weather stripping are good, are 3 strips better?? Or 4? Rolling Eyes

I have the same problem and I'm willing to give this a try but can't for the life of me guess why this would help. Anyone?

The weatherstripping when placed on the top of the metal pan helps in muting the vibrations on the pan when the cabinet vibrates, that's all. No science here, just common sense.

Since it is a mechanical reverb, the springs can get looser, but the only way to check is to swap it with another pan.
