Found this clip of Dion and some Belmonts(?)
Sounding good and having fun. Somebody should have told the audience, though.

I know this has nothing to do with steel, but I just thought I'd share.

Arch.

Hey Arch:

Thanks for posting that, a classic performance, and filmed well. Along with "Drip Drop", it's my favorite Dion tune.

well, lets make it legit. It was around this time I had my first psg, a fender 400.
On Utube there is a file with Dion and the Belmonts doing lip sync of the wanderer, looks like American Bandstand. What struck me was how good it sounded, even on my laptop.

After Buddy Holly, Dion was the first artist whose music I really got into. His 2007 Album "Past Masters" is a great favourite. So is the Blues stuff he did last year.
Frankly I'm glad he's still with us, and it's fantastic that he is enjoying performing like that.
Cheers
Dave

Thanks Arch,

Dion & The Belmonts always were at the top of my list. That was a great clip and spruced-up rendition.

On one of my many "oldies" CDs that I put together,
I found a version of just The Belmonts (YouTube) doing (a cappella) "Where or When", so started the CD off with that. The second track was then Dion & The Belmonts doing "Where or When".
Both versions were in the same key and so the contrast was pretty cool.

All this was off of YouTube.

Yep. You-Tube is a great resource with a silly name.

It seems to me there are more people singing than only three.

You can see the keyboard man singing and by the sound of it, one or two others. "Don't, Know, Why, I, Do" is five part harmony, at best. I enjoyed it for the joy.

It looks like the keyboard , drummer, and guitar player are also in the vocal mix.

I've been a fan of Dion's forever. Every doowop group used to do his tunes.
I have recorded and played with the Dovells and a lot of other old school vocal groups and they do a lot of that in the live show (extra vocals).
Morse Code of Love is another crowd pleaser.
