Topic: BIAB gets wierd periodically and I have to reboot |

Every once in a while (like once a day), BIAB goes wierd on me. It stops playing fluently and the piano, instead of comping nice jazz chords, as it usually does on a particular song, just "pokes" at individual notes. There's no "fill" in the song, just the bass walking and the piano and drums sounding like a crummy middle school band. The only way to fix this, that I know of, is to reboot the whole computer, then voila, it fixes itself. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this and how I could fix it without rebooting each time?

Try turning off other programs,
particularly Antivirus Programs
(being certain that you're
off-line when your AV is off).

Jim you should have plenty of computer there. Other programs could be interfering, such as internet, or anti virus. I would uninstall biab if you have the original disks. It doesn't write to the registry, so there is no problem.
After the uninstall, I would do a defrag on the HD, this could be crucial especially with real drums.
Then after the defrag, I would re-install BIAB and the Real Drums.
Also depending on how many programs your computer boots up with, it may be using way to many resources of your processor.
You might try some tuning tips.
They can be found at Musicxp.net then click on tuning tips. It gives you hints on things you can turn off or disable that consume resources and arne't really needed on a regular basis.

I think I figured out this problem, as well as a related one about BIAB playing out of tune!
I believe the culprit is... AOL!
I've discovered that these wierd BIAB problems only occur once I have had AOL open. If I close AOL, then re-start BIAB it SOMETIMES fixes the problem. But if I open my task manager and close out of any process that starts with "AOL", then voila, BIAB is fixed and running normally, and in tune again.
What's up with this? Is AOL commandeering my sound card so that it messes it up for any other application that needs to share it?

AOL, needs to go away. They have been associated with a host of problems from what I've heard others complain about. Especially audio issues.
I didn't know anyone was still using anything by AOL.
I would dump it as soon as possible and find a suitable replacement for whatever it is you use it for.
