Here is a video of a band I play in called Countrymen. It is some footage featuring a couple of Lap steel and pedalsteel-solos...or attempts on solos
Here goes anyway:

Would appreciate some feedback from you guys on the forum...
I play on a shobud professional 1972 modell with an added 6-string nonpedal backneck.
I also play some mandolin in this clip. |

Hi Tor;
Nice playing!
I'm a beginning steel player, but long-time guitarist and mandolin player. Are you playing thru the Orange head? Band sounds good, too.

Thanks !!
I dont use the Orange amp, that belonged to the other band playing that night.
I actually just use this setup;
-straight into the board |

Nice set-up.
What do you use as your main amp?
I play with a Line 6 X3L, straight into the PA as well.
I use IEM's and a small powered Mackie 150 speaker to hear myself. What's your usual monitor mix? Or does it depend on the situation? _________________ Guitars: Rittenberry SD S-10, Gretsch Black Falcon. Effects: Wampler Paisley, Strymon Timeline, Sarno Earth Drive.

It does depend on the situasion. On festivalgigs with one sound engineer for all bands, I like to keep it simple and just use the straight to the board setup and get my sound back thru the wedges.
When we play full nights alone with our own rig, I experiment more. I use an old peavey Triumph 60 when I use an amp, its all tube and sound pretty good on pedalsteel.
But I have recently started to use IEM. I bought a sennheiser system witch is supposed to be very good, but I have come to the concluion that I have to get better ear plugs. The ones that came with the kit is not good enough. ...do you have any tips on some good ones? |

Tor,
Thanks for the reply.
I use the Sennhesier IEM wireless system as well.
WE mix thru Aviom's personal monitor mixes.
I sing, play guitar, keys and pedal steel at my church.
I went with Westone Dual Drivers.
Didn't care for Shure's.
There may be something similiar in Europe.
Dual drivers are the key and they are not expensive, IMHO .Hope this help.
