Looks like I'll once again be drawn up to that hub of great pedal steel players, the great northwest coast. This time the venue will be the Northwest Swing Music Society's annual "Pioneers of Western Swing" festival, to be held at the Eagles Hall in Auburn, WA. For 4 days there will be one great swing band after another, playing from morning 'till late evening. Sunday afternoon will be the annual induction of deserving swing musicians into the "Pioneers of Western Swing Hall of Fame".

For band schedules and location information, please go to:
http://www.nwwsms.org/events.htm

Keith Holter's great band "The Longhorns" featuring steel guitar great Dean Rankin, will be appearing many times during the festival, as will Ray Poe's band from San Deigo (featuring 2009 HOF inductee Bob Meeks on steel!... congrats Bob); The great "Dry Creek" band, featuring Sacramento great steeler Hubert "Brownie" Brown... playing his own unique S10 "univeral" Sho~Bud, Oklahoma great swing steeler Chuck Hayes (You have got to hear this guy to believe it, a true master of the C6th tuning)... and these are only the steelers that I know about... looking forward to meeting the other great players who will be at the festival!!!

My band the "Stardust Cowboys" will be celebrating the 2009 HOF induction of Olen and Ronnie, our fiddle section, and Gary and Vicki, our vocalists... we also are pleased to announce the release of our new CD "Riding Back to You", which includes my version of Hoagy Carmicheal's beautiful standard "Stardust".

Hoping to see again some of the many new steel guitar friends I made in Portland at their last steel jam. Smile If you come up to Auburn, please do stop by and say "Howdy!".

I won't be able to monitor the forum for a few weeks, as I am flying directly from Seattle to my son's in MI for some more music fun and jamming Smile ... so I'll catch up when I get back.
